Chiefs Select RB Dexter McCluster (2nd Rd, No. 36)

IMO you guys had some questionable day 2 picks

But at least the guys are gonna be producers

 

We definitely had some questionable picks based on what I and many others view as pressing needs, no doubt about that. What the Chiefs did in retrospect was pick 5 guys that will all make the team and should all contribute next year. We definitely amped things up in terms of team speed and playmaking ability. McCluster is definitely dynamic, Arenas is a good return man (7 td's in college), and Berry is a sub 4.4 guy patrolling the back of the defense.

I'm still worried sick about us being able to stop the run or pressure the QB next year.

 

Oh, and all 5 guys were team captains in college. Character and leadership is definitely what they want.

 

In my opinion we did too.

Notice my first comment after the draft started today was 'WTF???'

 

Sounds a little like Percy Harvin, a quick 1 cut and gone player, a college RB with receiving experience drafted as a W/R. Should be a good weapon.

They always do... But the chiefs dominated the draft. simple as that.

 

Yeah, if Harvin was 3 inches shorter and 25 pounds lighter. Think more like Dexter Carter. bbbbbbbust.

General consensus is that Berry was the best dude available in the draft.

 

Yeah but Berry required no brains. He was the one "sure thing" for a franchise that was generally ridiculed for last years first rounder. Nobody can say crap about Berry. Maybe you can argue they could have gone for a player at a position that's weaker, but you can't really argue their was a better player available. Sure, he might bust, but at this point he was clearly the safe pick to make.

The rest of the draft though was kind of eyebrow raising IMO. I'm not high enough on McCluster for him to have been the best pick for this team at that point. There's definitely other ways they could have gone that would likely have been more beneficial to the team as a whole...and that's true for most of the picks from then on really.

Opinions vary on our draft, there are a lot of people in the media that think we had a great draft some that think we missed filling needs. The bottom line is that you really can't truly grade a draft until 2-3 years afterwards. I do know we got a bunch of smart and fast players.

I'm going to call every touchdown McCluster scores next year an Oxlong. I'm realistically thinking he's good for 7-9 oxlong's next year.

 

i had a man crush on him. despite his size he plays very physical. i was watching one of his games last year and he was running everyone over. i totally disagree with mike oxlong. mccluster is gonna make plays.

 

They picked up 3 playmakers with their first 3 picks. What did the Chiefs need more than anything else playmakers. Well maybe a QB and maybe OL but they definitely need guys with playmaking ability and I felt they drafted at least 2 guys who can step in and make plays for them immediately.

 

Berry is a beast, but they needed a NT and upgrades at three of the four LB positions. They got a guy who will be lucky to have an impact on special teams. McCluster is a maybe pick because it's really hard to judge receivers. Arenas was good, but not with Cody or Thomas on the board still. I like McCluster, but a slot guy isn't the biggest of impact players, outside of Welker.

 

it's way to early to judge draft picks...nobody was very high on guys like chris johnson, or MJD either...you just can't judge before a player hits the field...the pats have also picked guys like mankins and vollmer before the consensus thought they should be picked and they are both starters right now

 

Well it was Pioli that brought Wes Welker in for the Pats.

im not sweating Pioli's technique just yet.

although i was disappointed that we didnt draft an OLB.
