JaMarcus Russell's Failure Could Lead To Rookie Salary Cap

JaMarcus Russell's release could have serious implications beyond the Oakland Raiders franchise. With negotiations on a new collective bargaining agreement a certainty in the coming months (what level of success they'll have is the doubtful aspect), Russell's failure is the perfect illustration of the need for a rookie salary cap. Frankly, Russell shows that a rookie salary cap wouldn't just benefit the owners, but the player's, too. By freeing up more money into the system, more players are likely to get larger contracts (albeit marginally). Importantly, putting a cap on rookie deals, as the NBA has, relieves some of the pressure which clearly wore on Russell.

A rookie cap is a no brainer, whether Russell is the reason or not.

The NBA Rooke Cap needs implimenting, just as long that's the only thing of the NBA's CBA that gets included. Their cap system is a mess.

That would be about the only positive to come out of JaMarcus Russell...

As a falcons fan i can say that his 6/19 31 yards 1INT was a massive positive
