Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and horse trainer D. Wayne Lukas are friends and kindred spirits, Lukas, the first trainer to earn more than $100 million in purses, wants to apply Jones' bold marketing vision to the fading sport of horse racing. Like Jones, Lukas runs into obstacles presented by the fundamental structure of the sport. "I talked to Jerry Jones, and he said if the league turned him loose, he'd make so much more money because he could do all kind of innovative things,'' Lukas told the Baltimore Sun. ``But when he gets in the room with other owners, he has to look out for Cleveland. In horse racing, everybody looks out for their own selfish interests. We've got to get under one umbrella.'' The Lerner family has owned the Browns franchise since it came back into the league as an expansion team in 1999. In that time, the Browns are 59-117 with one playoff game.

He'll make more money until it turns into MLB and fans of 2/3 of the league/country doesn't care anymore.

I don't see anything wrong with what he said. Yeah he's an arrogant jackass, but in this case he's right.

jj has made no bones about the fact that the league in general holds him back from making craploads of money. he's said stuff like this before.

What, teams should exclusively be in major market cities like NY, LA, Chicago, and... Dallas? This doesn't make any sense, and if it was the case, yeah, that point about it becoming like the MLB makes a lot of sense.

i dont think he means the city itself but more of the owners mindset and approach to business

All Jerry Jones cares about is making himself more money and benefiting his team, not making the league better.

Now if he would just say what he really means, "If the league would just let me win a playoff game or two I could really make some money". Jerry's a big rich crybaby, and so is anyone else who blames their problems on someone else.

this is a good point. even though i'm a capitalist pig, JJ knew what he was getting into when he bought the Cowboys 20+ years ago, yet he continues to snitch about the revenue structure. If he doesn't like the structure, he should have never bought an NFL team.
