The Broncos have 12 wide receivers on their roster, a mixture of veterans such as Jabar Gaffney and Brandon Stokley, younger guys such as Eddie Royal and a whole bunch of rookies. Not one has been a true No. 1 receiver in the NFL, a guy who is involved in the most plays and receives the most attention from opposing defenses, yet the lack of a true top receiver seems to fit with the Josh McDaniels plan according to Lindsay H. Jones of the Denver Post. "I hope we have a lot of guys that become our No. 1 receiver at different times during the year — a tight end that catches 10 balls, two or three different receivers that can catch that many balls in a week over the course of the season," McDaniels said. "We're not looking for it to be predictable or throw it to only one or two players. We'd like to attack the defense with a number of skilled players, and ultimately that's what we'll be when we get everybody out there and have time to practice together." It seems McDaniels would be just as happy to have several receivers with 50 catches each than just one with 100.
