The Oakland Raiders have filed a grievance against former quarterback JaMarcus Russell seeking repayment of $9.55 million, the team confirmed Thursday. The grievance is based on the contention by the Raiders that the contract was changed at one point during Russell's three-year stint with the organization and that he's not allowed to keep all of the money he had collected prior to his May 7 release according to Jason Cole of Yahoo Sports. Russell, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2007 NFL draft, was guaranteed $32 million as part of a six-year contract reportedly worth $68 million. "We have filed a grievance against JaMarcus Russell and that's all we're going to say at this time," Raiders attorney Jeff Birren said. Part of the guaranteed $32 million was originally in the form of salary advances for the 2010, 2011 and 2012 seasons. A portion of those salaries is in question, according to the grievance.

I kind of have mixed feelings about this.

I don't like Russell anymore than I do the Raiders...

I want to file a grievance too, to recoup all of my hopes and dreams that his tubby butt has been shattering for the past few years. I can't wait to walk into McDonalds in a few years and take a crap right in the middle of the floor for him to clean up.

Too bad, thanks to the Raiders, he'll probably never have to work for the rest of his life, even if he does have to pay this. If he has even a tiny bit of braincells, he'd know to open up a savings account and he'd be set forever.

Oh, I forgot, the only braincells are in his stomach.

You have no one to blame but Davis, man. All JaMarcus did was show up and sign the papers.

Raiders ain't getting crap back. It was their choice to cut him. If he quit the game or was doing drugs the whole time and being a distraction to the team, that'd be one thing. But they won't get a dime back.

The only natural talent he ever had was a huge arm. Couldn't hit a barn at 20 paces with it, but could throw it a mile. No brain, no smarts, no instincts, immobile, never appeared to understand the game or be able to keep up with the pace of it...the list of things he sucks at goes for miles, whereas his only solitary upside was the cannon arm. GREAT JOB AL.

i was 100% on russells side with his hold out because i knew it would be his one and only pay day he really had to take advantage of the goobers that run that team

now they file a grievance? lmao. what are they gonna say "we drafted him first overall but wasnt good so we cut him and he took all the money we agreed to give him no matter what"

    lmao

  15. In college he was actually kind of mobile.

Not really. His opposition was just not as fast or talented as they are at this level. Just because his fat butt got lucky here and there against slow college scrubs doesnt make the man mobile.

    **********Automerged Doublepost**********

Of course I am biased, but they are only trying to recoup the money they advanced him against the next 3 years, not to get back any money for the time he spent here. I feel like that's not so out of the question. Will they win the case? Doubt it.

Al will not win this one.

    He screws coaches. not QB's.
