There has been a cool distance between Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, who turns 33 in August, and the organization over the past few months, and not just of the physical variety. Entering the final year of the $60 million contract he signed before the 2005 season, Brady would seem to be in line for a lucrative extension that would make him one of the league's highest-paid players. Yet three months before the start of the 2010 campaign, and less than two months before training camp, there have been no substantial talks between his agents (Don Yee and Steve Dubin) and the Pats' front office, and there's a growing sense of disconnect between the two camps. Some people close to Brady feel the organization isn't displaying much urgency toward ensuring the latter.

this is a sign that the patriots are not going to re-up his del. The patriots have done this to all there players when you're no longer needed tey began to stat distancing themselves from you.

Not comparing the two, but did anyone really think that Montana wouldn't retire a niner at first?

There had been major qb controversy in SF for several years before Montana left. By the time he actually left it was far from shocking. However Brady doesn't have a Steve Young nipping at his aging heels.

Even if Brady goes elsewhere, which is highly unlikely, the only team he'd be a backup for is Indianapolis.

I just don't think it's a high priority for either side right now. When they get around to it, it'll get done. He isn't going anywhere. It's never been about the money with Brady. After they get around to signing all the rookies, and look at where they sit, they'll come up with a fair deal. Won't be near what he'd probably get elsewhere, but it'll fly. Whatever, he probably won't make as much as his wife.
