Tennessee Titans running back Chris Johnson told ESPN's Michael Smith in a recent E:60 interview that he is asking the Titans for $30-40 million guaranteed. He hinted earlier in the offseason that he wanted to be the highest paid offensive player in the game. Earlier this week, Johnson offered "no comment" when asked if he planned to hold out and if he planned to play hardball with the Titans.

He definately deserves a new contract...normally i dont agree with little punks like this..but he showed what he can do last yr..on a team that was 0-6 he was still doing it...and he was good the yr before too. Hes better than AP imho. Why should put his body through what he did last yr again for the little amount of money that hes due to make? Hes screwed if he just plays and waits and ends up getting hurt...yea there's the chance he gets paid and gets hurt..but at least he wouldn't be getting roded over like they are trying to do now..

I can see highest paid RB..not offensive player..especially with peyton and brady signing new deals soon..

I want $30-40 million guaranteed, too. WTF should he say? $20 million is enough.

Of course he is gonna say something that high.

i agree with most of the sentiments here. new contract is needed but i don't think he deserves to be the highest paid player .........

Because one great year doesn't make a player deserving of becoming the #1 paid player in NFL history. With Johnson's attitude he would want another new contract in 2-3 years and make 60 million guaranteed.

Only thing I have to say is I hope he doesn't break his arm patting him self on the back. Not very classy.

You hope he isn't for FF. He has to show he can play at a top level for more than a year before he deserves to be the highest paid player. Because that's what he is asking, not top RB, top player. One great year doesn't deserve that. If he could come close to that again this year then sure.

because c.j.'s accomplishments haven't shown to equal wins for his team. i'm as big of a c.j. fan as anyone else and i believe that he needs a new contract NOW but there is no way in hell that this guy should be making more than Peyton Manning, Drew Brees, Brett Favre, Donovan McNabb, bigBen, and Tom Brady, who continue to win over and over with different players around them.

could you make a case that he should be the highest paid running back in the league? probably, but not the highest paid offensive player.

What has he given the Titans? How many Championships has he brought to them. If he led them to a Playoff game and won a playoff game maybe, MAYBE he could be close to 30 million, Peyton and Brady have lead their teams to winning seasons and multiple playoff appearances and 4 Superbowls combined. They are going to be the highest paid players not a mouthy runningback.
