Dexter McCluster of the Chiefs has the opportunity to become an impact rookie for the club as a situational player. According to KCChiefs.com, the Ole Miss star is expected to align in a variety of positions—including the wildcat—along with his primary role on the Chiefs special teams units. After he was drafted in the second round back in April, there were some in the league who thought McCluster went too high, but Matt Bowen of the National Football Post doesn't agree with that because when you can find a player who is as dynamic as McCluster, can cause mismatches and brings creativity to your offense—you scoop him up. A player who will operate inside of the numbers, but a player who can be explosive and flip the field.

Chiefs not received the memo about the wildcat being dead yet?

Take it form someone who hated the Pat White pick, drafting someone with the intent of having him as a wildcat specialist is not a good idea. Now granted the Chiefs more than likely drafted him for other reasons first, but he should focus his time at being a WR, which is why they wanted him, I think.

That's what I read right after the draft...that we drafted him to be a WR...:icon_cheesygrin:

Transition to a pro WR is one of the most difficult things, especially since McCluster wasn't a true WR in college. Taking his focus away from that could very well slow down his development.

Drafting a midget with less than spectacular speed in the second round was never a good idea to be fair...

We didn't take him for his top speed. It was more because he can get to top speed on a dime. The safeties and LBs that he'll be matched with should be no match for him. Not like he'll be going against corners.
