Patriots To Slap Franchise Tag On QB Tom Brady In 2011?

Patriots quarterback Tom Brady's set to make just $3.5 million in 2010, and you can understand just how much he's putting on the line by playing out his old contract and putting his body at risk through 16 regular-season games, plus potential playoff games. There's time to get this one done, of course, but there's also a lot of ground to cover. Remember, Brady had never been inside of two seasons away from unrestricted free agency before and he's now eight months from that. A 2011 franchise tagging seems to become a more likely scenario with each passing day.

I think they made a mistake trading Cassel away. They need to trade Brady for Cassel. It would be kind of like what happened to Bledsoe.

Who in their right mind would trade Brady for Cassel. Lets not make this about Matt Cassel.

How do the Patriots know the NFL will still be running in 2011? Isn't that supposed to be a lockout year?

True but you can't stop everything that is in process because a lockout may occur.

Wow dude, this is worse than Gross for Rothlisberger.

Brady will sign a lesser contract or be gone, simple as that.

That would be a terrible idea..they should just trade for vick or sign JR in that case. LOL.
No way do chiefs trade away their "franchise" qb ( i still don't buy it, but whatever) for a qb whose best years are most likely behind him. I do agree though that the initial trade of cassel was a bad idea. They made their own beds and now they need to lay in it. They have NO one to back up brady now..
