The long-awaited contract talks between the Rams and rookie quarterback Sam Bradford will likely get under way next week according to Bernie Miklasz of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Rams chief operating officer Kevin Demoff, who will return from a brief vacation early next week, plans to get together with Bradford's agent, the Clayton-based Tom Condon but Bradford won't be directly involved with the negotiations. "That's why I hired an agent," he told reporters in Oklahoma this week. "I don't want to deal with any of that stuff. That stuff's all on (Condon). I've done my part to get myself here. Now, it's his job to get me in camp." Bradford, the No. 1 overall choice in the 2010 draft, is in position for a huge contract. Quarterback Matthew Stafford, chosen first overall by the Detroit Lions in 2009, signed a six-year deal worth $72 million, with $41.75 million guaranteed. Bradford will probably command between $45 million to $50 million in guaranteed dollars.

I'd take Matt Stafford everyday over Sam Bradford. Given that, heck 50-60 mil guaranteed. Give him like 25 million and if he can get the Rams to the playoffs, give him the rest. GROSSLY overrated QB getting a GROSSLY overpaid amount of money.

I also figured they would have started contract talks already.

Bradford, with the exception of JaMarcus Russell, is the luckiest hecker in the history of the NFL.

Gets injured, gets re-injured, Locker stays at U of Washington for another year (who would have gone before this dude, almost guaranteed), gets in the draft class that will probably be the last in the NFL to not have a rookie cap, has great showings at the combine and personal workouts, gets drafted over Suh at first overall.

    In-freaking-credible.

    pretty much spot on.

i would say that bradford is half the prospect stafford was, and he'll make a substantial amount of money more than stafford

I'm one of the rare few who thinks he is a solid player. I was not sold on Stafford when he came out, but he looks to be making the right kind of strides. Remains to be seen if he pulls an Alex Smith and stays stagnant or if he keeps improving year after year.

In no way was Bradford worthy of being the first overall pick, but for a team in need of a QB, I definitely saw the value there in the second half of the first round. I've been right with some picks and I've been wrong plenty of times, so we shall see.
