ESPN studio host Chris Berman has been selected to receive the Pro Football Hall of Fame's Pete Rozelle Radio-Television Award. The award, announced Monday, is given annually for "longtime exceptional contributions to radio and television in professional football." Berman will receive the award Aug. 6, a day before this year's class of Hall of Famers is inducted. Berman is entering his 25th season as host of ESPN's "Sunday NFL Countdown," and has anchored the network's NFL draft coverage since 1987. He has worked for ESPN since 1979. Source: Associated Press

I still like Boom, I wish Boomer and Tom Jackson was a daily 30 minute show throughout the week during NFL Season.
I've hated him since the very beginning. He's always been selfish and tries to put himself as part of the game. I'll never forget over a decade ago when someone hit a long drive and he said, "Back, back, back,...but one 'back' short of a home run". He put himself and what he had to say as part of the action. Others seem to really like him, and his longevity is a credit to that, so I guess he deserves it. My personal opinion of him though is that he's an egotistical douche, like Bob Costas.
Never compare Costas to Berman, ever. Screw Costas. Berman is creative and gives livelihood to what he does best (IMO) and that's highlights and recaps, he puts a different spin and story on games and gameday agendas. It's why I like guys like him and Eisen who do game commentary/highlight reels, their characters comes across very well and it's as if you know them.
^ Costas does a good job of the PGA work he does - Keith Olberman is the worst of the worst. Back on point though - Berman deserves it.

I saw a petrified year old white piece of dog crap the other day. I guess I should have taken a moment to appreciate it's longevity.
I understand that, but let's think for a second.....is there anyone else you'd want to hear do it on ESPN? Other than Scott and Van Pelt (who's decent), everyone else is, well, meh. Wingo isn't great, and the current NFL Primetime format is awful

I can see why some people would be tired of Boomer. I'm not. I still love the guy. Definitely deserves this award.
