Notre Dame quarterback Nate Montana, whose father Joe is one of the most popular figures in Fighting Irish history, and 10 other ND athletes were arrested on misdemeanor charges of underage drinking at an off-campus party Friday night. Forty-four people in all were arrested after St. Joseph County police responded to a call about a fight near a roadway and discovered the party. Two non-athletes face a misdemeanor charge of providing alcohol to minors. Montana, a walk-on who had an impressive performance in the spring game and enters fall as the backup to starter Dayne Crist, was the most recognizable football player involved, but wide receivers Robbie Toma and Tai-ler Jones, linebacker Steve Filer, kicker Nick Tausch, cornerback Lo Wood, and offensive linemen Chris Watt and Tate Nichols were among the other student-athletes arrested. St. Joseph County Police assistant chief Bill Redman said that most of those arrested had been released on $150 bond. If convicted, each faces a maximum sentence of 30 days in jail.

Not all kids are expected to be like Tim Tebow in college.

There going to drink and raise a little hell.

Better for him to get it out of his system now before he decides to turn pro.

While most do it, they do it smart enough to not get caught. I hope he at least get's some sort of punishment. I don't care who his dad is, suspend his butt.

I think suspending him for drinking underage is a little excessive. Hold him accountable for his actions, but no need to take it that far

I guess drinking a beer is far more dangerous than walking around with a loaded gun.

    Gotta love America.

Since Joe Montana faces Jail time and Shaun Rogers walks into an airport with a loaded gun and I haven't heard crap about him getting any jail time.

A kid in college drinking, NO FREAKING WAY.Next thing you know he's going to be having s*x with girls who aren't his girlfriends! Give him what I've gotten, a citation, a court date, probably like 50 hours of community service.

Joe Montana doesn't face any jail time. Neither does NIck. Nobody's ever going to get jail time for underage drinking unless their a constant repeat offender. It's a court date and community service, maybe summary probation for 6 months. If it was in Cali he'd lose his drivers license until he turned 21. Jail lol.

In California you lose your license until you're 21? Ouch. In Minnesota, it is basically a speeding ticket. $180 ticket, no court dates or anything.
