Earlier this month, San Diego Chargers first-round running back Ryan Mathews planned to be on time for training camp. "My main thing is to get into camp as soon as possible," Mathews told Nick Canepa of the San Diego Union-Tribune. "I've talked to my agent; I need to be there. Too many guys hold out for all the wrong reasons and I'm not going to be one of them." With rookie set to report to Chargers Park on July 25, and no first-round pick in the 2010 NFL Draft signed, Mathews is taking a slightly more realistic approach to when he 'll report to his first NFL training camp. "Any time in there would be fine," Mathews said of reporting to camp between July 25 and July 30, when the veterans are due to report. "It's also a business," the former Fresno State star added. "That's what I have to realize...I want to be on time. Hopefully that happens. If not, there's nothing I can do."

    DoubleC i'm ready now...

Oh please, STFU! I'm pissed everytime I read that kind of bullsh!t. :censored: Sure, there's something you can do: Sign the damn contract!
In a player-agent relationship, the boss is the player, not the agent. If you really wanted to sign, it would be done already.
Don't hide behing the guy in tie.

Overrated. He's just like JaMarcus Russell, they know that they were drafted too high and want all the money now. I expect 800 yds, 3.5 yd avg, 5 recs, 6 TDs.

take it easy with that lol

he'll be ROY...hes big, fast, decisive and was a good prospect but i would have had him go around beanie wells went 25-32. he'll probably get over 1000 with a 4avg and 12 TDs in that offense

I didn't compare them talent wise, I'm comparing them on their knowledge that they were drafted higher than they should have been and will holdout for as much money as possible before everyone realizes how overrated they are.

The right side of the offensive line can't run block worth crap. McNeill is holding out with Thomas starting on the left so that side is crap at run blocking too now. All the AFC West teams have upgraded at run defense down the middle. The Chokers are overrated every year and only win the division all the time cause the Raiders, Chiefs, and Broncos have been crapty. But for once all these teams are looking decent enough, mostly the Raiders, to give the Chokers a real challenge. Even if the Chokers win the division, he won't be ROY.

he wasnt running behind all stars at fresno...and with the chargers passing game it will open things up for him on the ground. he falls into the maybin/harvey category...not so much russell

i do think he will be a good pro though, not great but he'll have every opportunity to get ROY

I never said he was running behind all stars in Fresno, he didn't need to at that level of competition. Have you seen the tackling in the lower divisions? It's digusting and stat padding for offensive players. The guy couldn't break a tackle if his life depended on it. He's suppose to be a big bruiser yet he doesn't work hard to break tackles and doesn't work hard at all that extra yardage at the end of a run. With the middle of his offensive line being the only run blocking able part of his line, I hope he's happy running into Richard Seymour, John Henderson, Tommy Kelly, Rolando McClain, Jamal Williams, DJ Williams, Derrick Johnson, Eric Berry, Tyvon Branch, and Brian Dawkins for 6 games a season. And that's just the three teams in his division. With his injury history and these big guys and hard hitting guys all going at him, he'll be out for at least 2 games. Not only that, Sproles will take all the 3rd down snaps and some.

    **********Automerged Doublepost**********

Like I said before, I didn't compare him to Russell talent-wise. Talent-wise, I would compare him to Laurence Maroney. The ability is there, but with the lack of help around him, it won't do much.

The passing game won't open anything up for him if Vincent Jackson holds out. Gates will get injured again and is only going downhill from here. Malcolm Floyd and Legedu Naanee? Really? *gags*

    **********Automerged Doublepost**********

***EDIT*** I'm not saying Laurence Maroney lacks help around him, I'm saying they both have the physical ability to do well, but Maroney just never got that spark in him and Mathews won't either because he lacks help around him.
