I don't understand why the Eagles traded Donovan McNabb to the Redskins for next to nothing. I mean, the Redskins are in the same division as the eagles. They should have either traded him elsewhere, or got more out of the Redskins.
uhm....? is this thread for all the WTF moves or just about McNabb? Because I could go ON AND ON about numba 5
I'd say a 2nd n 3rd rounder is a pretty sweet deal. They have Kevin Kolb who played well last year so it was time. Both sides got a good deal.
Both **********Automerged Doublepost********** Yeah, but they should have gotten more out of the Redskins since the Eagles and them are in the same division. They don't want to just hand the division over to Mike Shanahan. Do they?
Well, it wasn't a bad business deal to trade McNabb. I'd of MUCH rather they kept him, let him play out his final year and then let him walk, but the F.O. apparently knows more than myself so. That being said, I think trading a SUPERSTAR IN CONFERENCE is the dumbest decision that a team can make. McNabb isn't 4 years past his best days. I still think he's the best QB in the NFC Beast and our QB is the worst. Nothing against Kolb, he did great against a crapty team and a team that wasn't pushing it too hard, but he hasn't faced the G-men and Jailbirds yet. He sees them 4 times a year and I don't know if he's that good against that caliber a D. But trading a marquee guy IN conference is dumb, no matter what the compensation is. Should've shipped his butt out to Oakland or Kansas City, somewhere that doesn't have a chance to bite us in the butt. Not that he needs a lot of motivation but he sees us twice a season and I think he might get a little more giddy up in his game those 2 weeks.
like what? Are you forgetting Mcnabb is 34? Who knows how long he has left? He probably has 2 more years as a great QB before he becomes just another QB. The Eagles probably felt the Redskins had too much to overcome anyway and they weren't going to be a great team Mcnabb or not.
I'll buy that, but at the same time, he's still got good game. If the Skins finish better than the Eagles this year somehow, the F.O. will be kicking themselves in the butt hard core. Not saying Kolb isn't serviceable, but he's not Donovan McNabb. Yes, the Skins WR's aren't amazing but do I have to constantly remind people that it's NEVER stopped McNabb before? He led the team to the NFCCG with Stinkston and Thrash as his primary WR's. He makes teams better. I bet teams weren't offering 2 draft picks but maybe 1 3rd round would've been better than trading him in division. I honestly think, no homer pick that he's going to have the best stats in the NFC Beast.
no doubt. Right now I would have no problem saying Mcnabb is in the top 10. I understand what you're saying but maybe Kolb can be close to Mcnabb. Not this season obviously but down the road. YES you are absolutely right. Mcnabb makes those around him better and I'm sure that was part of the appeal to the Redskins.
It just kills me that before they traded McNabb I felt this year might be the year they get it all together as long as they stay healthy. Not saying Kolb will never be the elite QB that McNabb is, but I'm being selfish and want a damned Super Bowl win!! But thankfully these guys are all young so hopefully it's 2001 all over again.
You're exactly right the Eagles are a young team. So they will get it together in a few years. Mcnabb really didn't fit the youth movement.
