Baltimore Ravens rookie defensive tackle Terrence Cody was held out of the team's first training camp practice on Tuesday because he failed the conditioning test. "Part of our process is that everybody has to pass the conditioning test to be sure that they're ready to compete," said Head Coach John Harbaugh. "We knew it was going to be hot out here. Our practices are fast, and we want to make sure guys are physically ready to practice at the pace we're practicing." Cody signed a three-year contract on Monday so he could report to camp on time. "He's going to have to get himself in the type of shape he needs to be in," the head coach noted. Source: Mike Duffy, Baltimore Ravens.com
Coach also said that this didn't really come as a surprise because the expected standard is considerably higher than anything Terrance would've been held to in the past so there is a learning curb. This kind of thing is not under heard of this time of year for DTs. **********Automerged Doublepost********** *unheard
And people still like this kid? You can't just be a mountain of lard and expect to be good in the NFL.
i dont think anyone expected him to be conditioned, hes about 2 years away from being a three down player....he went to a team thats a great fit for him though
And I get embarrassed taking my shirt off sometimes. Dude put down the jelly doughnuts and pick up a salad.
Exactly. Haloti Ngata will whip his butt into shape. Once he gets it mentally that he has to be in shape physically in order to play in the NFL, the man could be a beast besides Haloti. I liked the pick and hope it continues Ozzie's track record. Plus the Mount went to 'Bama.
And therein lies his intial problem in Baltimore Everything I've heard about Saban is that he encourages his NT's to play at Ted Washington weights Different system, different expectaions, gonna be an adjustment. Dude did shave off 20 LBS from the Senior Bowl to the combine
a year or two with NFL strength and conditioning coaches he should really be a premier space eater. hes huge but for his size hes pretty weak (22 reps at 225 for a NT is kinda sad considering i could probably throw up 15 and im half the size of cody and not a pro athlete) the good news is hes immovable as far as back and forth goes, maybe you can get him to go side to side but not much
