Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News reports that the New York Giants have waived/injured third-round safety Chad Jones. Once Jones clears waivers, which he's expected to do, the Giants will place him on injured reserve. I don't think they can......it was similar with Hixon. In order to go into camp with them not counting to the training camp roster they had to do it this way...or something like that

I disagree I think Jones would have been 3rd string and that's if Kenny Phillips makes a full recovery and they use Michael Johnson as 2nd string at FS and SS.
