The New England Patriots have signed veteran lineman Eric Ghiaciuc. Ghiaciuc has played in 48 career games with the Cincinnati Bengals from 2005-2008 but he did not see the field last season. "Eric has some flexibility, he's played the inside positions [of center and guard] and has been in the league, so he has a little more experience there," Belichick said. "We felt with the preseason games coming up, and where our team is, that he would have a little bit more opportunity." Source: Mike Reiss, ESPN.com
and yet another veteran considered washed-up by the league signs with the Pats ................. does anyone agree with the direction the Pats have chosen to go with their roster the last couple of years? Personally, I think they're making themselves worse. They've shown that they can draft well. Why all of these desperation moves?
Washed-up suggests this guy was better than a liability, and honestly, I don't remember a game where Ghiaciuc wasn't that. But to be honest, I think a lot of it comes down to Belechick's arrogance. He's been doing this for the last couple of years and hasn't been drafting quite as well as they once did. It reminds me of what McDaniels is doing in Denver in that it almost seems like they are both sabotaging their team to show their superiority to everyone else.
