The Texans are close to signing Pro Bowl receiver Andre Johnson to a new contract that could make him the highest-paid player in the NFL at his position. Johnson has five years remaining on his current contract and is scheduled to make a base salary of $5.8 million this season. He said at the start of training camp last week that he wanted to be the highest-paid receiver in the league. Owner Bob McNair said he expected to have the deal wrapped up in two weeks, but it's not going to take that long, a person with knowledge of the negotiations said Wednesday night. No specifics of the deal were given. Source: Houston Chronicle
he should be the highest paid receiver being that he is the best one.... until calvin needs a new deal of course lol
That's exactly how I feel. I hate the NFL with their contracts. I like that they have a salary cap, but the fact that players can still control how much they make is sad. Hope this gets fixed in the new CBA.
in andres defense he had his uncle represent him which did actually screw him out of alot of money.....i think its a pretty good move by the texans owner to be willing to renegotiate, especially since johnson is a great player and a great team mate....hes never cause a problem
I agree. And in Andre's defense, he is going about this the right way. He isn't skipping camp, he is just asking to be paid more. Does he deserve it? Probably. Rather players go about it like this then Revis.
