Vikings Could Deal For Titans QB Kerry Collins

If the reports — Tuesday’s reports, anyway — that Brett Favre plans to retire from the Vikings turn out to be fact, the team’s best option to get a starting quarterback, at this juncture, would seem to be Kerry Collins. Collins is a high-priced ($5.5 million salary this season) 37-year-old competing with Chris Simms to back up Vince Young with the Tennessee Titans. Collins would seem to be an upgrade to current Vikings backups Tarvaris Jackson and Sage Rosenfels. Collins probably could be had for a midround 2011 draft pick. Minnesota’s only other legitimate chance now for a QB upgrade might be Seattle’s Matt Hasselbeck, 34, who probably could have been had several months ago for a midround draft pick.

Highly doubt this. The only chance this would happen is if Favre retires, and the Vikings decide they want nothing to do with Sage Rosenfels and need to find a different #3 QB

I don't think either of them could step in at this point and be an upgrade to T-Jack.

I don't either. If Favre retires, Jackson is the QB this year.

If Favre didn't return, I guess the Vikings will stay with Jackson. Another signing of a aging QB would be ridicolus.

  9. Collins isn't better than Jackson.

Collins has more experience than Jackson. I like him at QB more than Rosenfels or Jackson.

Jeff George has more experiance then them also. Doesn't mean I want to throw him into starting QB.

What has Jeff George ever done? Besides play on 7 different NFL teams? 8 if you count the Raiders twice.

What has Kerry Collins done recently? Had one decent year since his superbowl in New York a decade ago?

At least, Collins hasn't argued with head coaches and made rude gestures to the fans in the stands like George did.

But Collins is still washed up and only produces one random good year amidst several seasons of crap. Jackson is your best bet if Favre retires, hopefully he's learned not to crap his pants when his first option isn't open
