Seriously, I read somewhere that Rey was responsible for putting The Undertaker on the shelf for a while. After a match they had, The Undertaker suffered a concussion, a broken nose, and a fractured orbital bone.
Yeah, Rey stiffed Undertaker and CM Punk within two weeks. I blame the WWE though, had they not buried Chavo Guerrero, then they wouldn't be held to ransom by the companies only Latino Main Eventer.
There's another Latino coming to Smackdown, Alberto Del Rio. He used to wrestle in AAA in Mexico, which is Mexico's equivalent of the WWE. Don't know if he's a main eventer or not. I guess we'll see. He's being marketed as another Mr. Perfect, Curt Hennig, it looks to me.
Yeah Dos Caras Jnr. WWE love to destroy established talent in order to put over their own homegrown "talent" so I can't he him making too much of a mark, which is a shame. Since he got caught out on his drugs test and forced to drop the IC Belt, Rey has been dragging creative around by the balls. Rey doesn't need the belt because he's well established, but it wouldn't surprise me if he's refusing to job to Jack Swagger just to make sure that he's still in the picture. A shame really if it is true, he certainly knew what it was like to be held down when he was in WCW.
Alberto finally makes his debut next week. Should be interesting to see what the fans think of him, i saw all the vignettes on him, and i think they might make him a rudo aka heel. Taping Date: 8/10/10 - Air Date: 8/13/10 - HP Pavillion - San Jose, California Kane defeated Kofi Kingston in the opener. Drew McIntyre defeated Matt Hardy. Cody Rhodes defeated Christian. MVP defeated Jack Swagger. A segment was shot where Kofi Kingston and Dolph Ziggler fought. Tedd Long announced they will face each other for the Intercontinental Title at SummerSlam. Big Show defeated three local stars in a handicap match. CM Punk, Luke Gallows and Joey Mercury exchanged words with Show after the match. Rey Mysterio defeated Dolph Ziggler in a non-title match in the main event. Rey won the match. Kane had brought the casket down to ringside and after the match, he and Rey fought some.
Taping Date: 8/17/19 - Air Date: 8/20/10 Rey Mysterio comes out and lets everyone know that he is glad his name was cleared in the Undertaker saga and say that he knew all along who was responsible for taker's vegitative state. He is interupted by Alberto Del Rio who tells Rey that he is from a well known familly in Mexico and while in Rey's bloodline are no deeper than a common Tijuana bario steetrat. Del Rio sticks his chin out berating rey daring him to hit him. They start going to to blows when Rey gets the upper hand and hits the 619 it's annouced that later tonight we'll have Rey Mysterio vs. Alberto Del Rio. Intercontinental Championship match - Kofi Kingston beats Dolph Ziggler w/ Vickie Guerrerro by DQ. Ziggler attackS Kofi after the match and beats him down so bad that he needed to be helped to the back. C.M. Punk feels that his group is unraveling and after watching what the Nexus did with one of their own he lets Gallows and Sereena that if they don't with their match against Big Show and Kelly Kelly that they will be ousted from the S.E.S. Sereena and Luke Gallows beat Kelly Kelly and Big Show Christian beats Drew McIntyre with dashing Rhodes ringside. After the match both Rhodes and McIntyre gang up on Christian which leads to an injured Matt Hardy comming in to make the save which doesn't happen as Drew and Cody run roughshed on Hardy's injured ankle/foot. Cody and Drew servey the damage and look at each other pleased with themselves that hint that there might be a potential alliance between these two. Kane explains why he put his brother in a vegitative state. So to sum it up Kane feels that Taker's ego contributed to his untimely foreboading as he spent years and years pineing until the time was right for him to lead into a false sence of security so he can stake claim as hell's number one demon and World Heavyweight Champion. Alberto Del Rio beats Rey Mysterio clean via submission with a spinning armbar variation. Del Rio was perfect in his role as a better than thou heel complete with his own ring announcer (who introduced him en espanol), Gold tunk/white pattened leather boots and Pyro which is simular to Chrisitian's when he first broke away from Edge after Edge won the King of the Ring. Dark Main Event - Steel Cage Triple Threat Match for the World Heavyweight Title - Kane beats Jack Swagger and Rey Mysterio to retain. Before Kane could get out of the ring lights go dark and we get to see Taker who made his way to the ring. As Taker is walking towards ringside Rey leaves the cage with a fallen Jack Swagger and Kane in the ring. Taker and Kane exchange blows Swagger gets up and helps Kane. They double team Taker untill Taker gets the upper hand and Kane steps out the cage leaving Swagger alone with Taker who hits the chokeslam and tombstone piledriver and kneals with one knee and stikes his pose then leaves.
Meh. Me either. However, he intrigues me in that he has some experience as an MMA fighter, according to his Wikipedia page. Most Mexican wrestlers don't have that.
I think the persona and mic work is all there, but WWE have watered down his moveset quite drastically. But still, I was impressed with him despite that.
Taping Date: 8/18/10 - Air Date: 8/27/10 - SaveMart Center - Fresno, California Kane defeated Rey Mysterio in a No DQ match. Alberto Del Rio came out after the match and laid Rey out. Kofi Kingston defeated Intercontinental Champion Dolph Ziggler by countout CM Punk defeated JTG. Big Show defeated Luke Gallows. Alberto Del Rio beat a local wrestler by submission. Jack Swagger beat MVP via DQ. There was a stipulation where the match was a technical match. MVP broke the stip and was DQ'd for punching Swagger. Swagger put MVP in the Ankle Lock after the match. SmackDown ends next week with The Undertaker cutting a promo. Taker said his brother Kane had big trouble coming his way
Taping Date: 9/21/10 - Air Date: 9/24/10 The show opens with World Heavyweight Champion Kane vs. Chris Masters in a non-title match. Masters attempts the Masterlock but doesn't lock it in. Kane hits a dropkick! Kane takes over the match and dominates the Masterpiece. He works his knee. Masters tries a comeback but Kane hits the Tombstone to pickup the win. Kane gets on the mic and cuts a promo on The Undertaker. He goes into the crowd and says he has a challenge for The Undertaker tonight that he can't refuse. WWE Tag Team Champions "Dashing" Cody Rhodes & Drew McIntyre vs. The Hart Dynasty in a non-title match. Rhodes gives the Bloomington crowd some grooming tips. SH Smith takes a beating but finally tags in Tyson Kidd. McIntyre hits Future Shock on Kidd to get a three count after some miss-communication with The Hart Dynasty. Backstage, Alberto Del Rio has attacked Christian. Referees attend to Christian as he tells them his shoulder is hurt bad. CM Punk is backstage with Luke Gallows. Gallows takes Punk out and says he's done with him. They will have a match tonight. Chavo Guerrero vs. Kaval. Kaval gets a nice pop in a fast-paced match as he works stiff with Chavo. Kaval hits a modified tarantula in Chavo and the action goes to the outside. Chavo hits three amigos. Kaval battles back but misses a charge. Chavo hits a Frog Splash and gets the three count. Alberto Del Rio comes out and a recap of his assault on Rey Mysterio is shown. He says Mysterio is coming back next week in Oklahoma City to challenge him. Christian comes out, selling his "injuries" from earlier. Del Rio locks on code red and Christian taps. Del Rio slams Christian's injured arm into the steel ring post. Big Show b. Vance Archer & Curt Hawkins in a squash match. Show picked up the victory when Archer tapped out. Backstage, Jack Swagger is interviewed. The Dudebusters and Hornswoggle put his jersey in a boxed marked SyFy. CM Punk vs. Luke Gallows. Short match as they exchange counters. Punk wins after hitting GTS. Vickie Guerrero and Kaitlyn come out with Dolph Ziggler. WWE Intercontinental Champion Dolph Ziggler vs. MVP in a non-title match. Ziggler gets a lot of heat. MVP controls early but Ziggler counters. Ziggler takes a tough bump to the outside. Vickie and Kaitlyn get into it on the outside. Ziggler attends to Vickie while referee Chad Patton starts to count. MVP goes to the outside to continue the action. Ziggler goes on the offensive after an MVP miscue. Dolph gets upset as Vickie goes to the back. Dolph applies a chinlock on MVP as the crowd chants for him to break the hold. MVP breaks the hold and hits a lot of offense but Ziggler has had enough. He grabs the Intercontinental Championship belt and gets himself counted out. Winner via count out, MVP. Kane says WWE is now his yard. He says the phenom has fallen and he didn't end things at Night of Champions because the fun just started. He wants The Undertakerat Hell in a Cell. The druids come to ringside with a casket… it's a red casket – just for Kane. Kane opens it and Paul Bearer is in the casket. He sits up and the lights go out. Undertaker is in the ring. A fight ensues with Undertaker dominating. Kane leaves the ring and the show ends with Undertaker bowing to Paul Bearer to end the show
Taping Date: 10/5/10 - Air Date: 10/9/10 - Landon Arena - Topeka, Kansas Teddy Long comes out to introduce Edge as the newest addition to Smackdown. Edges comes out. Jack Swagger comes out with his eagle mascot. He cuts a promo on Edge, saying he embarrassed him last week in his home state of Oklahoma. Swagger's mic cuts out, leaving Edge to improvise in his mic. The two will face each other now. Edge vs. Jack Swagger. Edge speared the eagle mascot off the apron and they called out the medical team and stretcher for him. The match continues. Good match, several near falls. Edge wins after hitting the spear. The grooming tip from "Dashing" Cody Rhodes focuses on brushing your teeth. Unified WWE Divas Champion(s) Layla w/Michelle McCool vs. Kelly Kelly w/Natalya. Winner via LayOut, Layla. After the match Layla tried to attack Natalya but was ran out of the ring. Big Show cuts a promo about his upcoming feature film "Knucklehead" and WWE Bragging Rights. He has been named captain of Team Smackdown at the pay-per-view. Show says his first order of business is to name Hornswoggle the official Smackdown mascot. Hornswoggle comes out in a Vikings helmet and face paint. The Dudebusters interrupted the promo, saying they deserve to be on Team Smackdown. When Show denied them, they took off their Smackdown shirts to reveal Raw shirts. Big Show gave them a double chokeslam to end the segment. Unified WWE Tag Team Champions "Dashing" Cody Rhodes &Drew McIntyre vs. Kofi Kingston & Kaval. Rhodes & McIntyre controlled most of the action before Kaval got the hot tag. After interference by the illegal men, Rhodes ended up hitting Cross Rhodes to get the win. Paul Bearer is in the ring to introduce World Heavyweight Champion Kane. Kane cuts a promo about how he destroyed The Undertaker with the help of Bearer, saying Undertaker is as weak as the crowd in the arena. He says Undertaker now has to answer to Kane. Dolph Ziggler vs. MVP for the WWE Intercontinental Championship. During the match, Dolph distracted the referee for Vickie Guerrero to take advantage, but she left him alone instead and went to the back. Kaitlyn came out towards the end of the match in support of Ziggler. She ended up interfering, giving Dolph the win for him to retain the title. They celebrated together in the ring until Vickie came back out. He tried to say he was innocent and went running after Vickie, leaving Kaitlyn alone in the ring. Alberto Del Rio comes out and cuts a promo on Rey Mysterio. He says Mysterio is like the trash on the bottom of his shoe. Alberto Del Rio vs. Rey Mysterio. Mysterio hits a lot of offense in the early going. Del Rio turns things around with a flying kick in the corner. Several rest holds are utilized before Rey goes back on the offensive. Near falls from each. After a distraction and miss-communication by Del Rio's ring announcer, Ricardo Rodriguez, Rey hits 619 and a corner splash to get the win. This ends this week's edition of Smackdown. Dark Match Main Event: Teddy Long introduced Big Show as World Heavyweight Champion Kane's opponent in a street fight for the title as the dark match main event. Kane won after he hit Show in the stomach with a chair. Show chokeslammed him after the match and cut a short promo thanking the live crowd. He said he wasn't prepared for the match because he had been eating catering all evening
Taping Date: 10/12/10 - Air Date; 10/15/10 - Portland, Oregon Teddy Long announced that tonight's show will feature qualifying matches to determine the members of Team SmackDown at Bragging Rights. Undertaker is shown outside the arena. Paul Bearer has a challenge for him later tonight. Rey Mysterio defeated Cody Rhodes to qualify for Team SmackDown at Bragging Rights. Backstage segment with Kaval, Hornswoggle and Big Show. Kaval will face Big Show in a qualifying match tonight. Paul Bearer cut a promo on Taker. Jack Swagger beat MVP with the ankle lock to qualify for Team SmackDown. Taker was shown on top of the arena again. Alberto Del Rio beat Chris Masters to earn a spot on Team SmackDown. Edge beat Dolph Ziggler to earn a spot on Team SmackDown. Great match. Kaval won a five-minute challenge with Big Show to earn a spot at Bragging Rights. Tyler Reks came out and challenged Kaval to a match with his Team SmackDown spot on the line. Teddy Long made it official and Reks beat Kaval to go to Bragging Rights. Reks looked impressive and controlled the match. Kofi Kingston beat Drew McIntyre to earn the spot on Team SmackDown. Taker was shown backstage now. Paul Bearer and Kane came out and talked about Taker and a Buried Alive match. Taker came out and fought with Kane, sending he and Bearer to the back. Taker made lightning shoot down on them at the stage. This may have been the end of the show but Kane came back with the urn and fought Taker before running off
Taping Date: 10/19/10 - Air Date: 10/22/10 - Rexall Place - Edmonton, Alberta, Canada The show opens with Team RAW and Team SmackDown in the ring. Teddy Long is going to let the teams pick the matches. Miz chooses he, Ezekiel Jackson and Sheamus vs. Big Show, Rey Mysterio and Kofi Kingston. Edge chose CM Punk, John Morrison chose Alberto Del Rio and Jack Swagger got Santino Marella. Big Show, Kofi and Mysterio beat The Miz, Sheamus and Zeke. Big Show chokeslammed Miz and Rey splashed him for the win. Jack Swagger beat Santino Marella. Hornswoggle came out and got into it with Swagger's mascot. Santino attacked the eagle but Swagger won with the ankle lock. Alberto Del Rio beat John Morrison. LayCool came out and Layla was dressed like Natalya but with Jim Neidhart's beard. Michelle McCool was dressed as Bret Hart. Next, Natalya and Kelly Kelly beat LayCool in tag team action. Natalya used the Sharpshooter. Edge and Punk went to a no contest as Team RAW interfered when Edge was about to get the win. Team RAW came out next and everyone fought, hitting their finishers. It ended with Edge spearing Punk and Team SmackDown posing together. Randy Orton defeated Kane. The end came when Kane went for a chokeslam. The lights went out and came on but Undertaker wasn't there. Orton took advantage of Kane being distracted and RKO'd him for the win. After the match, Kane was upset when the lights went out and the bell sounded again. Taker came up through the ring and pulled Kane back inside the bottom of the ring. They escaped and fought. Taker posed and threw the World Title belt into the hole.
Taping Date: 10/26/10 - Air Date: 10/29/10 - Bradley Center - Milwaukee, Wisconsin The ring is decorated for The Undertaker's funeral after he was "buried alive" at Sunday's Bragging Rights pay-per-view. World Heavyweight Champion Kane comes out with Paul Bearer to open the show. Kane says The Undertaker is never coming back and he wants the fans to thank him for removing the false hope from their lives. He gets a ton of heat from the Milwaukee crowd. Alberto Del Rio interrupts the segment and says the only funeral tonight is going to be for the World Heavyweight Championship. He attacked Kane but Rey Mysterio came out, chasing Del Rio off. Mysterio hit 619 on Paul Bearer but Kane threw him out of the ring. Edge comes out and spears Kane. Backstage, Alberto Del Rio tells Teddy Long he wants to be the number one contender. Instead, Long books Del Rio vs. Rey Mysterio vs. Edge in a triple threat match for later tonight with the winner getting Kane for the World Heavyweight Championship at Survivor Series next month. WWE United States Champion Daniel Bryan b. WWE Intercontinental Champion Dolph Ziggler w/Vickie Guerrero (who was dressed like a cougar). Bryan pinned Ziggler. Josh Mathews interviewed Paul Bearer backstage, but Kane ended up by starring at Mathews until he left. Backstage, Kelly Kelly is starring in a mirror. "Dashing" Cody Rhodes comes in and says he needs the mirror more than she does. Big Show comes in and wants a match with Cody. Cody says he's a tag team wrestler and will only face Show if he can find a partner. Kelly Kelly whispers in Show's ear. Jack Swagger w/eagle mascot b. Kaval. Teddy Long and Hornswoggle come out for a Divas Halloween costume contest. Alicia Fox is Cleopatra, Kelly Kelly is Little Bo Peep, The Bella Twins are Batman and Robin, Melina is Spider-Woman, Rosa Mendes is a leprechaun, Layla is Beyonce and Michelle McCool is Lady Gaga. Long setup a match between the Divas. Kelly Kelly, The Bella Twins & Melina b. Alicia Fox, Rosa Mendes, Layla & Michelle McCool Backstage, Edge and Rey Mysterio talked abotu tonight triple threat match. Cody Rhodes talks to Drew McIntyre about The Nexus, saying they are pathetic. Big Show & Kofi Kingston b. "Dashing" Cody Rhodes & Drew McIntyre. After the match Rhodes and McIntyre got into it and seemingly broke up their tag team with Rhodes telling McIntyre he got in his way. Edge b. Rey Mysterio & Alberto Del Rio in a triple threat match to become the number one contender for the World Heavyweight Championship
Taping Date: 11/2/10 - Air Date: 11/5/10 - Bridgeport, CT Edge vs. Alberto Del Rio goes to a no contest when The Nexus (except Wade Barrett) hits the ring and attacks both. David Otunga says that Nexus are taking over. Kane, Big Show and Rey Mysterio make the save. Teddy Long announces a ten man tag tonight: The Nexus vs. Edge, Del Rio, Big Show, Rey Mysterio, & Kane. WWE Intercontinental champion Dolph Ziggler defeated JTG. Kaitlyn comes into the ring to celebrate with Dolph but Vickie Guerrero comes out and slaps her. Officials hold the women apart. Backstage, Guerrero storms into Teddy Long’s office and demands revenge against Kaitlyn. Long makes the match. Backstage, The Nexus attack Rey Mysterio and lay him out. David Otunga says that Wade Barrett is in Great Britain, but they attacked Rey because they can. MVP defeated Drew McIntyre and Cody Rhodes in a Three-Way to earn an Intercontinental championship match. The former Dashing Ones worked together early but that didn’t last long. Vickie Guerrero pinned Kaitlyn. Teddy Long announces Kofi Kingston will replace Rey Mysterio tonight. Backstage, Kelly Kelly and Kaval congraulate MVP on his win. The Nexus attack Kaval and MVP. He ran down the legends that appeared on Monday's "Old School" Raw and boasted about beating Sgt. Slaughter. MVP came out and assured Del Rio he'll never be a legend and he's a nobody. MVP asked Del Rio for a match but Del Rio told him he couldn't handle him. Del Rio called for Drew McIntyre, one of his teammates at Sunday's Survivor Series pay-per-view, to come out and face him MVP b. Drew McIntyre Backstage, Edge taunts Paul Bearer who is still tied to a wheelchair World Heavyweight Champion Kane bursts into Teddy Long's office and questions where Paul Bearer is very similar to how he went on a rampage looking for The Undertaker's "attacker" a couple of months ago Jack Swagger b. Teddy Long came out and announced since both teams were already in the ring, we'd have a Survivor Series Battle Royal preview tonight Big Show won a 10-man Battle Royal featuring Alberto Del Rio, Tyler Reks, Cody Rhodes, Drew McIntyre, Jack Swagger, Rey Mysterio, Kofi Kingston, MVP and Chris Masters. Show eliminated Swagger with help from Mysterio tow in the match. Following the bout, Show and Mysterio celebrated Dark Match Main Event: Big Show b. World Heavyweight Champion Kane via disqualification when Kane used the title belt
Taping Date: 11/23/10 - Air Date: 11/26/10 - Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena - Jacksonville, Florida The show opened with Kane still looking for Paul Bearer, saying he missed his father on Thanksgiving and wants him back home. Edge started making Kane beg to get his father back, and Kane was begging. Edge then laughed at him and still wouldn’t give Paul back Kofi Kingston b Jack Swagger in a King of the Ring qualifer with the Trouble in Paradise Alberto Del Rio b Big Show via count out in a King of the Ring qualifier. They were outside the ring and Del Rio got in, but Ricardo Rodriguez held Show’s foot to keep him from beating the ten count. Show then knocked out Rodriguez Edge had Paul Bearer hidden in the bathroom Drew McIntyre b MVP clean in a King of the Ring qualifier Kelly Kelly b Michelle McCool. LayCool beat down Kelly after the match, then Beth Phoenix made the save laying out McCool with the Glam slam Edge was in the stands with Paul Bearer and challenged Kane to come out. He threatened to throw Bearer down the stairs. Kane ran up to get Bearer and Edge left Thanksgiving segment saw Rosa Mendes burn a turkey she was cooking for Hornswoggle. Swagger yelled at the Eagle. Hornswoggle wanted to eat the Eagle since the turkey was burned so he shot the Eagle with a bow-and-arrow Cody Rhodes b Rey Mysterio in a King of the Ring qualifier due to Del Rio posting Mysterio and Rhodes using the Crossroads.
