The New York Jets have rejected holdout cornerback Darrelle Revis' contract proposal. "The answer is no," Jets team owner Woody Johnson told New York reporters. "There's no progress. There was nothing new or different." Added Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum: "Right now, we can't find somehing that makes sense for both sides. So, we really have no progress." Johnson added that the team isn't expecting Revis to play in the first game against the Baltimore Ravens after Tannenbaum met with Revis' agents. "Based on the meeting we had last Friday, that Mike had, that's the conclusion," Johnson said. "That's my feeling right at this moment. It can be a flexible feeling, but, right now, I have to say no." Revis' agent, Neil Schwartz, told the New York Daily News that he though the proposal was a fair one. "We believe our proposals addressed their concerns and issues," Schwartz said. "This proposal was fundamentally different than proposals we received." Tannenbaum didn't agree, though, saying: "Fundamentally there wasn't a change. There were some technical changes we looked at."

just throw a few extra million at him for this season and do a long-term deal once the cba is figured out ............ i'm sure he would prefer that versus sitting out the whole season.

I'm still waiting to find out when Revis has been a "dominant" corner other than last year. The New York Hype Machine gave him WAY too much credit, Champs Sports gave him a commercial, and he's already coughed up about 20% of the salary his contract that HE SIGNED for this year...

I'll tell you why you don't 'just throw a few extra million at him for this season'... because 10-12 million is minimum what he would demand this year.

Schlereth and Greenie tried convincing me that players deserve to hold out for new deals if they outplay them, and I do agree with that. But I guarantee the Jets have offered him the richest cornerback deal in history and he is looking for more.

That kinda crap is just stupid.

I hope the Jets stick to their guns, but I sense they are going to cave.

Both sides sound pretty pitted in for the long haul here - if he misses the first game of the season it'll be fine by me.

No wonder Al Davis hasn't signed Seymour to a long term deal and who can blame him, when Darrelle Revis isn't a camper in New York?

well, that may be true. he may not play this season for a few extra million on top of the $1mill he is making already. He may be looking at this as an 'all or nothing' situation.

I would just think that he would be much more willing to risk injury for $4m or $5m this year instead of $1m.
