I talked about it before, but it's hilarious hearing a football player's point of view on contracts compared to 'common folk' who don't get paid millions a year.

Schlereth was talking about how in football, you don't have guaranteed contracts so you need to get the most money you can. He says owners can get away from this by offering guaranteed contracts. He acknowledged that common folk probably view contract talks totally differently and that they feel that these guys get to play a game and get paid big money anyways.

Football players really are totally freaking spoiled. Even if you don't like the game and only play it because you are good at it, you get compensated a RIDICULOUS amount of money to run and play a game. You are a damn entertainer. That's all you are. You aren't curing cancer. You aren't delivering food to starving people all over the world.

League minimum is plenty of money for an entertainer. This guy wants $16,000,000 a freaking season.

It's actually disgusting when you really think about it. Hell, he could have agreed to a $10,000,000 per year contract and the Jets would've felt like they robbed Revis.

And we can argue about how much the owners make (way too much money, too) and this is why the players feel like they should get more, which is a reasonable argument. I have plenty of ideas for what the larger market teams should do with all of that surplus cash but that will never happen so I'll save the keystrokes.
