Of course it's only preseason, but Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow showed signs of what made him a college standout when he scored a rushing touchdown late in the fourth quarter of Denver's 33-24 loss to the Bengals on Sunday night. The former University of Florida star was making his highly anticipated professional debut and he held his own for the most part. Splitting time with likely starter Kyle Orton and with newly acquired Brady Quinn, the rookie quarterback finished 8-for-13 for 105 yards through the air while rushing for 10 yards on two carries. One of those carries was for a seven-yard touchdown with just over a minute to play in the game.

Not good, not bad. Had a fumble returned for a TD overruled and scored a meaningless TD with no time left in the game. I wish/hope he gets some snaps with the 2nd team.

His throwing motion looks the same as it did at Florida, against better competition I think he makes more mistakes.

so much for him completely re-doing his throwing style, it was still an awful wind up delivery...not changed at all, its not really something you can change though. in practice sure but in game you revert back to old habbits, especially when they worked in college all that time

Having watched the highlights, it looked like he hadn't changed much from Florida. The throwing motion seems a lil quicker but as you said he's still winding it up and could ended up fumbling on quite a few occassions because how he exposes the ball at the start of the motion. The TD run is another thing that reminded me of his college days, because he took a big hit that should of been avoided, especially in a meaningless game like this.

A lot of the blame has to go to Urban Meyer and the gang in Gatorland though, because they should have done something in the four years he was there.

If the Broncos want to give Timmy Christ any chance of being a solid starter in the NFL, they need to resist the lure of starting him for at least this season, he isn't ready for live fire.

Why would the Gators have any blame? He did everything they could have hoped for for them.

I guess two MNC's and one game away from a 3rd apperence in the MNCG isn't good enough....

If you wasn't so blindly in love with Tebow, you would realize that I was saying the Gator coaching staff did a poor job in terms of his technique and decision making when running with the ball (In regards of taking as less contact as possible etc).

Nothing aimed at his production, just his technique.

Florida's not really known for producing NFL QB's. However, they can produce the hell out of college talent...which is what they are supposed to do...it's not Florida's responsibility for making Tebow an NFL QB...

lmao like i didnt know that.....you are the one thats been on tebows nuts as a pro prospect. id be willing to say tebow is the best college football player of all time, still doesnt mean he'll do crap in the pros

    **********Automerged Doublepost**********

im saying urban meyer could have put a little more focus in helping tebow tighten up his game, FOR tebow not for florida, because tebow can only be with florida for 4 years before he has to start a career....its not unheard of for a coach to try to prepare a player for a career in the NFL, considering they give them their all for 4 years for free while the coaches pull down millions.

the only thing meyer prepared tebow for was being a FB or a career in broadcasting

Nor it should be, but had they tightened up his technical flaws then he could have been even better in the college game (Probably the all time best). What he acheived was amazing, but I can't help but feel that Florida let him down in terms of not helping him become a better player.

It's silly to expect that from Florida. Maybe some other programs but Florida? Come on...they use players to better their program and then on to the new crop. Any kid heading to Florida should know and expect this going into the University. Florida's in it for the money for Florida. Not to raise money for the player or the NFL.

That would be the right thing to do. But Florida is obviously in it for Florida. Can't blame them.

I didn't say I didn't expect it from Florida, I said it's a shame they didn't try and help a guy that did so much for them.

Yeah, it's a shame, but it's not what Florida is known for...
