The Ravens have received some phone calls from teams interested in possibly trading for Ravens backup running back Willis McGahee. Before the Ravens make the move, they might consider who will be their running back on goal line and short yardage situations, and do they have a backup to Ray Rice who can also be a homerun hitter and score from anywhere on the field? McGahee has played extremely well in training camp, and reported in excellent shape. His attitude has been outstanding. If McGahee gets traded, the Ravens will probably use Le'Ron McClain as Rice's backup.

It'd have to be a sweeeeet offer before I'd let Willis go - if it were my call obviously...

Willis and Clayton were featured during the first game and both were productive. They are both being shopped. We need a CB and always carry a lot of LB's. Denver needs both a RB and a LB with the loss of Elvis. Ozzies phone is hot. Believe me.:icon_cool:

It's tough for me to fathom too many (realistic) deals with Denver for Willis that wouldn't be reaching - I think our No Name corners will be better than the talking heads expect and that Willis McGahee is an asset to our club more so than some 2nd tier CB.

Harbs is coach with a secondary pedigree so if anyone can he should be able to coach em up.

  5. what if it isn't a 2nd tier CB? What if you nab Champ Bailey?

That doesn't seem realistic to me.

  7. why not? The Broncos aren't a super bowl caliber team so why not trade Bailey (who only has 1 or 2 years left)? Maybe they would be interested in trading Andre Goodman?
Either would be an upgrade for the Ravens.

Denver has Knowshon, Buckhalter, Justin Fargas, and brought in LenDale for white I assume is goal-line situations. Not that McDaniels wouldn't trade for him because he obviously enjoys having a stable of running backs, but it certainly isn't a need as of right now.

Champ Bailey? For Willis McGahee? Uh uh.

  9. Lendale won't make the team. Fargas is no lock. Buckhalter is always hurt.

obviously it wouldn't be a straight up trade. However i could see Mcgahee n a 4 or 5 or 6 for Champ.

i agree. mcgahee's value is being vastly overrated in this thread. i don't think the ravens are going to get a whole lot for they guy............ he would be a nice addition to a backfield that needed some depth but teams aren't going to give up a ton for a 'nice depth addition'.

  11. I'm not suggesting they would and I think Champ for Mcgahee and a draft pick is fair.

Fair to who? The Broncos don't have any CBs as it is.

  13. They seem to think they do. They've explored the idea of a trade. They could trade Goodman and be fine.

They explored the idea of trading Goodman, I haven't heard anything about trading Bailey. Goodman makes sense, Bailey doesn't.

  15. I agree but if they can get enough for Bailey they may do it.

    86WARD -

McGahee's value isn't remotely close to the value of Champ Bailey. Shouldn't be mentioned in the same sentence actually.

mcgahee is worth slightly less than a bag of nickels

  18. I'm not saying it is that close. I'm simply saying I think the Broncos would trade Champ if they thought they were getting really good compensation.
