The Minnesota Vikings acquired Miami Dolphins wide receiver Greg Camarillo in a trade for cornerback Benny Sapp, multiple sources confirmed Wednesday. Camarillo was acquired to fill the receiving void created by Sidney Rice's hip surgery that will sideline him until midseason and the migraine problem affecting Percy Harvin. Sapp wasn't present as the Vikings hit the practice field Wednesday morning and his agent, Andy Simms, confirmed on his Twitter account that Sapp had been traded to the Dolphins. The 28-year-old Camarillo caught 105 passes over the past two seasons for the Dolphins. He works effectively out of the slot.

    hes a smurf, like 5-8 or 5-9

not sure why this happened, kinda blows for the dolphins cause i though marshall/camarillo/bess/hartline would be pretty good and i have zero faith in turner

Not really. I doubt the Dolphins go more than a 3 WR set that often. Plus, I think Sapp is going to be a nickle CB because Allen is a huge question mark and Carroll isn't ready yet.

Not a bad deal for the Vikings. Camarillo could be productive in that offense and with Favre at the helm. He'll get plenty of opportunities to stop the "leak" until Rice and Harvin are back in the mix.

Childress has made a career out of fielding mediocre WR's and making them somewhat productive in his offense. Berrian, Lewis and now Camarillo can be as productive as Pinkston, Mitchell and McMullen...

Camarillo is going to have a decent year if he is healthy, especially with Rice gone for part of the season... He is not the guy who is going to drop a lot of passes like the OTHER receiver we got rid of... Best of luck to the Vikes with Greg

Sapp is terrible, during his time with the Chiefs, he repeatedly got burned.

How is Sapp on special teams though?

Very good nickel back against the run. He isn't great in coverage, but he doesn't allow big plays either. I think opposing QB's rating was over 100 when throwing his way, but he makes the tackle as soon as they make the catch. So a physical guy that needs to work on his coverage.

Do you have a WR you can send to the Vikings?

Definately not terrible. He was liked a good amount in Minnesota.

    Pretty good on special teams.

Didn't I say he was terrible as in coverage? I never said he was a terrible person......
