Everyone always seems to want to diss Colt for being similar to Pennington. However, i believe that's wrong. Pennington had a good career. He was a great starter for years, was extremely accurate, is the NFL's All-Time Leader in Completion Percentage, and won the comeback award twice.
I just remember everyone saying he was too small.. I can't recall any arm strength issues. I still think McCoy will have a decent career. And Matt is just a bust.. plain and simple.
Leinart actually had a very good game Im not buying the "benching", I think it was just a ploy If it is real, its completely idiotic. Leinart has been decent this preseason, whereas Anderson has been terrible. And Anderson has always been terrible
Leinart and his weak arm are KILLING that offense. The offense is built to be a vertical downfield type offense and Leinart can't give them that True Anderson hasn't played well but neither has Leinart. you mean like in 2007 when he made the pro bowl?
Dude the pro bowl is a horrible way of judging a player. Favre made it in 2008 and he lead the league in INT's.
it meant more then than it does now. He was good and if he can tap into that again the Cards may be lucky. However, I don't think he will and they will really struggle this year. Next year though maybe John Skelton or Max Hall or maybe a new QB will take the job.
guys like fitz and doucet really arent downfield threat kind of guys....thats a skewed view on AZs offense, boldin wasnt either....its a pass happy offense but its not a completely vertical game like you would think. you dont need a real strong arm to run AZs offense. and brees has always had an NFL arm, he was just little. Same thing with troy smith imo, hes has an NFL arm but was a 5th round pick because hes 5-11. i use pennington as the reference for a weak arm, colt has that kind of arm and completion percentage, leinarts is a little stronger but less accurate
true they aren't deep threats but the offense is built on passing. Imo you have to have an above average arm to succeed in it. Leinart just doesn't have a strong enough arm. I agree with you Ktrain
If he gets cut, Carroll would be all over that so I wouldn't write him off yet. I think he's played better than Derek Anderson, that's not saying much of course, but no point in cutting him if he's been playing better. The 2 mil salary is nothing either, they can't cut him before next season if he still sucks and isn't in their plans for the future. Anderson is going to be a career backup.
If McCoy gets released by the Browns, the line forms to the left with teams wanting to pick him up, IMO.
