Vikings quarterback Sage Rosenfels had a nice night against the Seahawks on Saturday, completing five of six passes for 71 yards and a touchdown in the 24-13 preseason victory. It continued what has been a very fine preseason overall for the reserve, who has in three games completed 30 of 47 passes for 392 yards with four touchdowns and no interceptions. "Our offense did a lot of good things," Rosenfels said about his fourth quarter Saturday. "There's always mistakes when you play, but we did a lot of good things and it was enough to win the game." While it doesn't appear that Rosenfels is going to get much chance to play this year with Brett Favre and Tarvaris Jackson ahead of him on the depth chart, the former Iowa State athlete still wants to remain with the team. There were several scouts at Saturday's game, and maybe soon coach Brad Childress will get a call from some team that might be interested in a quarterback who did prove that he can do some good things while with the Texans from 2006 to '08, when Rosenfels threw for 3,380 yards and 24 touchdowns with 23 interceptions in 19 games, including 10 starts. Rosenfels, a real class act, said he believes he has had a really good training camp. "I've told a lot of people, I want to be here," he said. "I had a great time last year helping out Brett, trying to sort of be a helper on the offense and if the team needs me, be ready to play. So it's where I want to be, but we'll see what happens over the next week...I like it here, and coach Childress and I talked the day Brett showed up and I said I want to be here and I'm fully supportive. I had a great time last year. We'll have to see what happens, but I'm a happy camper."

This surprises me. My guess is that he is just being a good teammate. If an opportunity opened for him to start on another team I have a hard time believing he wouldn't jump on it.

  3. I can't see him not being traded. (The Cards would love to have him)

Joe Webb is somebody that the team needs to keep. I have a hard time believing that four QB's remain on this team which means that either Sage or TJack is gone.

  5. agreed. My money is on Rosenfels being gone.

We need to get rid of T-jack....he is horrible, and i cant stand seeing some of you guys saying he is good. Rosenfels is better and why keep T-Jack when we have Webb?

  7. T-Jack is decent. Long-term he is better than Rosenfels. He has more years as a backup.

T-Jack's problem was his decision making, if the 1st option wasn't there he would run or force it anyway. He showed that he learned some things behind Frerrote at the end of the 08 season, poor playoff outing, but he faced one of the best defenses in the league at the time. We'll see what he's learned from Favre, if he can't get it together after that, then he will be regulated to a league backup.

Webb, although he is a friend of mine, is nowhere near ready to be an NFL starter, he needs time and needs to become a more polished passer (he was average as a passer in college, but his playmaking ability set him apart from anyone else), and that's going to take a little while.

    In short, Sage is out.

AtlantaBlazer, have you watched the Vikings in preseason? Joe Webb looks like a rookie, shaky at times, but has thrown a couple pretty decent passes, no real bad mistakes. T-Jack this preseason has just looked like crap. In T-Jacks best performance this preseason, he averaged 3.9 yards per attempt. He's still been throwing jump passes, and he doesn't know how to take a sack. Instead of securing the ball, he sticks it out for the taking, then attempts to lob it. Webb's preseason stats actually blow T-Jack's away. I haven't seen quite enough out of Webb, but I'm almost ready to say I'd feel more comfortable with him in than T-Jack.

  10. Webb is playing 3rd n 4th stringers while Jackson is playing 2nds.

Webb is also playing with 3rd and 4th stringers while Jackson is playing with second. Its not so much about how good Webb looks, as it is how bad Jackson looks.

I wouldn't, again, I've watched the guy the past two and a half years at QB, and he's an amazing playmaker, but the accuracy is not there yet. Again, he's looked good in the preseason, but remember this is about the same level of talent (slightly better) that he played against in college, there are the guys who are trying to make their respective teams as well.

I wish Webb all the success, and will be rooting for him, but he doesn't need to be starting anytime soon.

  13. Webb will never start in the NFL.
