Vikings QB Brett Favre Already Taking Injections In Bad Ankle

After his so-so eight series Saturday night on the hard floor of Mall of America Field, Brett Favre went into the trainers' room in the Vikings locker room and got an injection of lubricant in the left ankle that has three times been operated on to remove loose bodies. "Like a grease fitting,'' he said. Noted orthopedist Dr. James Andrews did the most recent surgery May 22nd and Favre feels better, but not really that good. Favre said Dr. Andrews made two incisions on the top of his left ankle, where the ankle flexes above the foot, and sucked out the loose bodies. He said Dr. Andrews wasn't surprised a significant spur returned when Favre went for a re-exam a month ago -- but he was surprised it happened so fast. The Vikings will attempt to manage the pain the spur brings on, but Favre said he didn't think he'd take any painkillers stronger than Motrin. "It's catching up with me, all this stuff,'' said Favre. "My ankle just seems to get easier to sprain. I know everyone thinks the New Orleans game [the NFC Championship Game] killed me, but it was bad before then. Now we'll see if I can make it. My mind's telling me one thing, but my body's telling me something else.''

He's so fricking old that even his own body's trying to tell him to quit. It'll probably take an amputation to make him quit, if he actually finishes this season.

He'll be fine. During the game he looked fine. If the Vikings can get a big lead in the second half he will be pulled from the game, but he has looked fine on his ankle in the time he has played so far.

I don't know about that. The o-line was one of the question marks going into this season and if Favre gets hit too often to earlyon in the season then it very well could spell disaster.

It's Favre...he'll just pop an extra bottle of vicodin before each game.

Lol. Did you want him to retire?

    Cletusaurus YES! YES! YES!

You... you're kidding, right? He looked bad Saturday night. He got clobbered in the ONE SERIES he played in San Fran the week before. His lack of mobility is only worsened by the ankle injury, and the "gunslinger" will never play it safe. Pulling your starting QB in the second half of games? What is this, extended preseason? Give me a break dude... I realize your alternatives are Turnover Jackson and Sage Rosenflop, but at least those two goobers are healthy! Brettfavre needs to realize that this season will NOT go well and someone is going to go Suh on his ankle if he's not careful.

i've come full circle....i hold nothing against favre because he's not the one crying about being hit and asking teams to "hit him right". he understands what the game is all about....i blame the vikings organization for this whole fiasco....sucking his rod hoping he'll save them from being L.A.'s next failure of a team. so my [IMG] pic is more a jab at the organization and fans than favre.

    i won't argue that :icon_cheesygrin:

Lol damn you SF, but I could care less if he had not come back, i wanted jimmy clausen...favre cant do nothing but go down from last year....and I also think the organization is freaking up, but nothing i can do about that....and yes i kinda did want brett to retire.
