Ravens Sign WR T.J. Houshmandzadeh To A One-Year, $855K Deal

  1. ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Baltimore Ravens have reached agreement on a one-year contract with free agent wide receiver T.J. Houshmandzdadeh. Houshmandzadeh was released by the Seattle Seahawks on Saturday, one season into a five-year, $40 million contract that included $15 million in guarantees. Houshmanzdadeh was set to make $7 million in guaranteed base salary this season. According to Schefter, Houshmandzadeh's deal is for the veteran minimum, or $855,000, therefore the Seahawks' obligation to Houshmandzadeh will be $6.145 million for the 2010 season. With the Ravens, Houshmandzadeh will be the third receiver, with Derrick Mason and Anquan Boldin starting on the outside.

  2. Shocker.....but it's a heck of a deal at that price.

  3. Baltimore is a heck of a better place than where Housh was originally leaning towards....(Oakland & Washington)

We officially have the greatest corps of possession receivers of this young millennium. I foresee a lot of shotgun spread offense this season!

You still need a speed guy to keep the defense over the top, Boldin would be the fastest of the 3.

Oh damn, slow down there fella, it's not like your team scored the greatest coup ever, it's T.J. for petes sake, you know the whining, crying thinks he's better than Jerry Rice receiver who's a serviceable number 2 at best.

Which is why this is perfect for them....he's the #2. They still have Mason and Stallworth to fill out a wideset, going to be very interesting. Agreed about it not being the greatest core of this millenium....but for the Ravens, it is.

    The Red GO BLUE!!!

I think the Vikes should have went for him!! They could have used him this year while Sidney Rice misses at least 6 weeks and if Percy misses any from his headaches.

Woah woah woah woah...wait a minute. Here's the Ravens depth chart at receiver:

    1. Boldin
    2. Mason
    3. Houshmandzadeh
    4. Marcus Smith
    5. David Reed
    Donte Stallworth (injured)

Period. No way Housh starts opposite Boldin. Let's not forget who Derrick Mason is and what he is capable of.

Slow down there buddy, I was just assuming that the 38-year old may not see the field as often as he did before.

a "broken down" number 2 at best...

There's still a question whether the team has a true number one receiver. Boldin hasn't proved to be anything with out Fitzgerald...yet...Houshmanzadeh definitely isn't it...lol.

lol @ anyone saying Stallworth is anything but a dead roster spot on any team...
