After being released before starting his second full NFL season, former Dolphins quarterback Pat White will sign a minor league baseball contract with the Kansas City Royals, a source close to White confirmed. White, taken in the second round of the 2009 NFL Draft after a dynamic career at West Virginia, failed to materialize with the Dolphins. An outfielder who bypassed being drafted by Major League teams to pursue a football career, White is expected to begin in an instructional league this fall, the source said. The Dolphins released him on Saturday, the final day of cutdowns. White has been drafted four times by Major League teams, most recently by the New York Yankees in 2009.

Hmmm I'm wondering about which article is more recent, either way I could have seen this move coming more than White signing with the Jets...

  4. He was assigned to their practice squad.

I'm not sure that will prevent White from joining the MLB.
