Philadelphia Eagles coach Andy Reid told reporters Sunday that quarterback Kevin Kolb will be the Eagles' starter next week against Jacksonville, barring complications. Kolb suffered a concussion in the second quarter of a Week 1 loss to the Green Bay Packers. Michael Vick completed 16 of 24 passes in relief for 175 yards and a touchdown in relief. He also ran for 103 yards. Vick started under center in Week 2 against the Lions.

    Way to undermine Vick today.

It was expected, but to say it before the game? Wait until Monday's presser to say it. Like alcohol said, it's undermining anything Vick does today. So if Vick passed for 500 yards and ran for another 250 with 7 TD's, it doesn't matter because our heck up Kevin Kolb will be starting next week. Everyone knew, but to say it the DAY of the game is what's stupid.

Vicked look better than Kolb in Week 1 and he had a good game today - stupid move

Nothing like a QB controversy to maintain cohesiveness in a NFL locker room.

Win a few extra games this year or MAYBE have your QB of the future. Tough choice that they deserve for their stupidity. We as loyal passionate fans don't deserve....but what are ya gonna do?

To be honest, Vick could have a longer career now than he would've taking all those hits in Atlanta. He's obviously a BETTER passer and isn't relying on his legs unless he absolutely needs to. He's 30, but as he stated earlier, he feels he could play another 7 or 8 years.

I sometimes wonder if Andy Reid is actually goobered. Like, has some sort of mental disorder, honestly. Because I feel like "Eagles" and "QB Controversy" have been linked together for the last 8 years or so. And Reid does NOTHING to avoid it. I think Kolb should make sure he's completely and fully 100%. Give him...15-16 weeks to make sure he's fine and then go from there. I understand the Front Office is stuck in this "rebuilding" mind set and won't just let a vet take the reins at Quarterback. This could potentially be a really long season.

How has Big Red done nothing to avoid it? McNabb was always his guy, now Kolb is.

Drafting Kolb in the first place was the start of it. There were guys on the board at that time that the Eagles could have drafted that were more of a necessity than Kolb was. They drafted Kolb with their first pick. That right there ignited it and since that day, they had a controversy. Then they pick up Vick. Controversy. Kolb is garbage. People like comparing him to Aaron Rodgers but really? No thank you. kolb might be good but I think had he even been in the game today he'd of been annihilated. Vick has the ability to extend plays. From what I've seen, Kolb is basically Phil Simms with his ability to run. So what has Big Red done to avoid it? I reiterate, nothing.

I don't really care who ends up being our 'QB of the future'. If it's Vick, cool. If it's Kolb, great. I have always thought that it was horsecrap that Reid never really employed an open QB competition.

As it stands right now, Vick has shown he should be the guy. He's got the experience, the agility and ability to extend plays longer, and the hot hand (which really matters the most).

I'm a self-admitted Kolb lover, but Vick does deserve the nod.

Why should a QB controversy be avoided? If the one who is deemed the 'starter' plays worse than another QB, there should be controversy.

I want the guy who is going to play the best that week out there. Not the guy who is out there simply because he is the incumbent.

So basically you don't want any backup QBs. Reid named McNabb his starter every week once he took over, and so far he's done the same with Kolb.

reid's decision is based on next year and beyond which wrong or right, is kolb. vick will not be here. period. look at the team's history and it should end a ton of needless debating about whether the eagles would make a long term commitment to a guy 30 or above.

the problem though IS NOT the qb position, it's the frigging o-line. kolb is not mobile like vick, he was getting pressured and hit left and right and was lucky to get around 3 seconds to throw the ball whereas vick is getting 5plus because of his ability to move. that extra 2plus seconds is HUGE and it's the biggest reason the offense is performing with vick.

as an eagles fan you have to hope that kolb has what it takes becuase if he doesn't the front office has royally hecked the team up. although we may never even find out if the guy keeps getting flattened and becomes the a walking concussion by week 7.

also, not to derail the thread but maybe some more focus should go on my man shady mccoy, the guy had a huge game and to me was key in this victory.

seems like you're kind of on the fence here.

For his sake, I hope Kolb plays well next week. If not, you'll have divided fans and a divided locker room.

Even the Eagles fans in here can't agree on who the starting QB should be.
