If the San Francisco 49ers put in a waiver claim for free-agent quarterback Trent Edwards, they will be awarded him, according to league sources. The 49ers have been linked to the former third-round pick, who played college ball nearby at Stanford. According to league sources, the Cleveland Browns, Detroit Lions and Carolina Panthers have not placed claims on Edwards, besides the Buffalo Bills, the team that released Edwards, San Francisco is the only other winless club. Given the 49ers' record and the fact no other winless team has put in a claim on Edwards, he would be theirs. At this point in the season, waivers are based off of the records in 2010 thus far, from worst to best in inverse order. Source: Jason La Canfora,NFL Network
I like Edwards, put him in the right system and he could win you a few games. Being in Buffalo won't help anyone.
