Vikings Coach Brad Childress Rips Refs In Loss Vs. Packers

Discussion in 'Minnesota Vikings' started by BigBlueBruiser, Oct 25, 2010.

  1. Vikings coach Brad Childress used part of his press conference following Minnesota's Sunday night loss at Green Bay to rip the game's referees. Childress called it the "worst officiated game I've seen." He took particular issue with a second-quarter review -- on the play in question, Brett Favre threw what was initially ruled a touchdown pass to tight end Visanthe Shiancoe, who reached out for the ball, then appeared to cradle it to his stomach as he fell face-first, but Green Bay challenged the call and it was overturned, with referee Scott Green saying that Shiancoe had used the ground to assist in making the catch. The Vikings eventually settled for a field goal and the four-point swing wound up being the difference in Green Bay's 28-24 win. "It's hard when they take touchdowns off the board. I must not understand a catch in the end zone for them to take Shiancoe's off the board," Childress said. "That's not the way it's taught, that's not the way we're told ... That's wrong. That's wrong. They said he didn't control it and he controlled it. "If the litmus is 50 drunks in a bar, those 50 drunks say that's a catch." Shiancoe took issue with the decision, too, according to KFAN-1130 radio in Minnesota. "I don't understand that rule, man," Shiancoe said, according to the station's Twitter feed. "I ain't no (expletive) ref."

Has this type of call ever been reviewed before? I don't remember it, but someone I talked to mentioned that it might have happened to the Bucs before.

I mean the catch being assisted by the ground.

Sounds to me like this is Childress venting over the Packers getting away with one and his team didn't, i'm referring to the 2nd Packers TD of the game that actually was incomplete when the replay showed. His people upstairs should have told him to challenge that and would have won that challenge. So Mike McCarthy challenges the Shiancoe TD and gets overturned, correct call by the refs. I'm sure a fine will be coming the way of Mr. Childress.

STFU Coach Clueless, you're an idiot........but I don't believe the Shiancoe TD should have been overturned, he caught it away from his body, pulled it in tight, then the tip of the ball hit the ground, but he maintained possession. I think a catch like that should stay as it was ruled on the field, whichever way it was called. Not much there to look at.

There were also bad calls in the Vikings favor, though. Greg Jenning's caught a ball on third that should have been a first, but it was marked way short.

Looked like a td in all the replays, and all the announcers agreed. Just another heck up by the refs, that changed the game outcome. :icon_rolleyes:

if he didnt think that td was a catch he has a red flag too. cant blame the refs yo. both teams had bad calls imo. thats jsut the way it goes. the saints browns game was by far the worst officiated game on sunday.

    Crowned Doesn't give a shit.

There's no way it should have been overturned, he maintained possesion through the ground. The ball never even moved when it hit the ground.

Another horrible call is Percy Harvin's TD at the end that was over-ruled. How the hell can the line judge watch that and call it a TD? When he caught it, I said, there is no way he got both feet in bounce. It wasn't even close. These refs need to go back to school. Childress is still an idiot.
