In the wake of an embarrassing 45-7 loss to the Green Bay Packers, the Dallas Cowboys have fired head coach Wade Phillips, NFL Network's Michael Lombardi reports. This is the first time the Cowboys have fired a head coach in the middle of the season, something owner Jerry Jones was hesitant to do despite the team's early struggles. Since his hiring in 2007, Phillips led the Cowboys to a 34-22 regular season record, including a 13-3 record in his first season. Despite earning the league's best winning percentage that year, the Cowboys followed with a first-round exit in the playoffs at the hands of the Seattle Seahawks. Last season, Phillips led the Cowboys to their first playoff win since 1996 with a 34-14 win over the Philadelphia Eagles. Source NFL.com
A sad day for all non-Cowboysfans.... :icon_cheesygrin: It was obvious, that his days at Dallas are numbered
That is an awesome gif. Sodev! It was only a matter of time. I've heard Phillips was visibly upset about getting canned. Now the Cowboys have another problem child in interim coach Jason Garrett.
i always thought that Wade wasnt the right guy 4 Dallas in 2007. Great defensive mind...not a champion type of HC.
This whole saga of will they won't they fire Wade just served to make Jones look even more like a tool
