Carolina Panthers coach John Fox announced today that Brian St. Pierre will start Sunday at quarterback against the Baltimore Ravens. St. Pierre, who joined the team on Friday, has thrown five passes during his eight-year NFL career. "I think the guy has been in some games and was with us last week and picked up on things quickly," coach John Fox said. "He was into it. He spits the ball out quick and makes good decisions." When asked why he didn't want to start rookie Tony Pike, Fox replied, "Well, he might get experience, but right now we feel Brian St. Pierre gives us the best chance and that is the route we're going." This will be St. Pierre's first NFL start. Jimmy Clausen has a concussion and is not expected to play Sunday. Source: Carolina Growl
Matt Leinart once had to battle against St. Pierre for the No. 2 job behind Kurt Warner in Arizona a few years back. St. Pierre actually had the upper hand at one point.
LOL at the 5 passes in 8 years. Their situation is looking more and more like a disorganized Browns team haha **********Automerged Doublepost********** They'd probably be better off with Georges St. Pierre.
There situation is looking more and more like their '07 situation, where they had to start digging up fossils like Vinny Testaverde.
Hmmm... as stated above, less than 10 passes in his whole career for a reason. You might uncover a diamond with Pike, let the man have a chance.
Sending this guy out against the Ravens is suicide. They would rather sacrifice St. Pierre then Pike. Makes sense to me.
the reporter for the charlotte newspaper that announced tony pike was starting looks like an butt right about now ...............
Gave up 300 yards in the air and 3 TDs last game. Any other week I'd agree with you, but they showed weakness last week.
True, but I believe there might be a slight difference between the Falcons and the Panthers. And Matt Ryan vs. this turd.
