Jerry Jones hopes that Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo will play again this season, and the owner/general manager's optimism grew after a pregame throwing session Sunday. Jones said that Romo threw Sunday for the first time since breaking his left collarbone in the Oct. 25 loss to the New York Giants. The injury is expected to sideline Romo at least another three weeks, according to a source. Team sources told ESPN Senior NFL Analyst Chris Mortensen earlier Sunday that Romo was due for X-rays either Sunday or Monday, but Jones said after the game that X-rays weren't necessary at this point. "X-rays won't help us, relative to how and what degree it's mended and what degree it can take a lick," Jones said. "There may be some just to see if there's some kind of technical alignment or something like that, and I'm not real qualified or knowledgeable to talk about that. But we didn't think an X-ray or X-rays or those type of things will help us make a decision. It's going to be how it's feeling." Backup quarterback Jon Kitna has had back-to-back outstanding performances during the 3-7 Cowboys' two-game winning streak, but Jones said Kitna's success would not affect the decision about Romo's return. "When I think of Tony, I think of it more as when he's ready, that type of thing, more than I think about how well Kitna's played," Jones said. Source: Tim McMahon, ESPNDallas.com
Don't rush him...if we survive New Orleans and Indy, the top teams of the division have a fall, and somehow we're in the race with a 5-7 record, then maybe, but I still think the season is lost, and there's no point in risking the franchise QB.
It's comments like these that make me question peoples football IQ on a site like this. Not trying to be a personal attack. Just saying that I dont understand how you would even think this.
Oh man... the biggest homer on the board questions my football IQ. Well my night is shot to hell. Thanks a lot! :icon_sad::icon_sad::icon_sad:
Kitna is what he is. He is a hot and cold QB. The type that can throw 8 TD's over two games, then 9 picks the next 3 games. However I am happy he isnt washed up like Johnson was. If at any point in the season we are playing for anything and Romo is healthy, I want Romo over Kitna no matter how hot Kitna is. At this stage in his career Romo is a consistanly efficient QB. Something Kitna's never been his whole career
it seems to me that the cowboys are doing just fine with Romo on the sideline. So I wouldnt rush him back
At this point, we pretty much have to go undefeated the rest of the way to have a chance at the play-offs. With New Orleans, Indy, and Philly twice left in the schedule, it's not going to happen. Romo should've been put on IR. At least I'm thankful we didn't go after Testaverde this time.
