Under Steve Spagnuolo, the Rams have used the Eagles' multifaceted offense as a primary model. The consensus among team insiders is that, while the Rams appear to have more than a few major needs on both sides of the ball, a few more weapons along the lines of Philadelphia's DeSean Jackson, Jeremy Maclin and LeSean McCoy would be difficult to pass up high in the next draft. It might be different if current weapons like Donnie Avery, Danario Alexander and Mark Clayton could be counted on to stay healthy. "But it seems like all of those guys have major injury issues," one team insider said. "It's a shame to have such a great talent like Bradford and not surround him with as many weapons as possible. If they could come up with a potential No. 1 receiver who can consistently stretch the field, as well as an explosive change-of-pace back to go with Steven Jackson, they could be on to something big." i can see getting a change-of-pace back to complement jackson but i think it would be really dumb for the rams to spend high draft picks on wide receivers. their offense is inherintly conservative. they need to improve their o-line and get a 2nd back to have a better running game, which will open up the passing game a little more for bradford. in addition, they still need some help on the defensive side of the ball. spending draft picks on wide receivers in april would not be a good move for this team.
I tend to agree with your opinion, but at the same time, a big threatening receiver out wide (Danario Alexander fills that role when he's healthy, but that's only been once this season) would do more than any improvements on the line would achieve for the running game, especially when we have two young developing bookends and money invested into Jason Brown and Jacob Bell. Could not agree more with a speedster at RB, Jackson has not had any sufficent help back there since Faulk retired (Davis, Leonard, Darby, Gado have all failed) and when SJ has been ineffective there isn't anyone to fall back on. Defence I agree with as well. James Hall is on his last legs, Tackle has become a problem yet again, Outside Linebacker is a horror show (Vobora and Grant...Eurgh), an onslaught of third round cornerbacks have done sod all in pass coverage and the safeties have been passable at best (Atogwe, usually a turnover machine has been a non factor). Despite all that, they have performed well lol. This coming draft is going to be a strange one, we are a team with a lot of weaknesses and to be honest, could do with another year of high picks. I still believe that WR is going to be the first position to be addressed, but any direction is a good one.
They can be flexible in the draft being they have multiple needs, and draft the best athlete at one of the positions they need, when their pick is up. There are always good wide outs available in later rounds, if they scout well. Some from smaller schools are overlooked consistently.
Go WR early in this draft IMO. Best WR class in years, and Floyd might fall to them in the mid first. Floyd would be a top 5 in most drafts. From a Need + Value stanpoint, its hard not to go WR in this draft
