This mathematical formula utilizes the following factors to rank all 32 NFL teams: Wins Losses Strength of Opponent Home Field Advantage Margin of Victory Yards gained Yards allowed
TEAM POWER #1 Patriots (13-2) 32.03 #2 Falcons (12-3) 25.72 #3 Ravens (11-4) 25.35 #4 Packers (9-6) 21.45 #5 Saints (11-4) 20.02 #6 Eagles (10-5) 18.24 #7 Colts (9-6) 16.57 #8 Steelers (11-4) 16.12 #9 Jets (10-5) 14.32 #10 Giants (9-6) 14.10 #11 Bears (11-4) 13.05 #12 Chargers (8-7) 12.94 #13 Chiefs (10-5) 6.67 #14 Buccaneers (9-6) 4.80 #15 Dolphins (7-8) 4.57 #16 Lions (5-10) 0.46 #17 Raiders (7-8) 0.45 #18 49ers (5-10) -5.55 #19 Rams (7-8) -6.15 #20 Jaguars (8-7) -6.16 #21 Browns (5-10) -7.72 #22 Cowboys (5-10) -7.80 #23 Redskins (6-9) -10.42 #24 Vikings (6-9) -11.89 #25 Titans (6-9) -13.87 #26 Texans (5-10) -15.33 #27 Bengals (4-11) -15.72 #28 Bills (4-11) -16.38 #29 Seahawks (6-9) -20.10 #30 Broncos (4-11) -28.09 #31 Cardinals (5-10) -29.47 #32 Panthers (2-13) -36.78
Based on the variables used to determine rankings, this seems pretty good. Only one I really question is the 49ers in the 18th position after two losses since the last ranking when they were 21st.
The 49ers power ranking has actually dropped over their last 2 games. It's just that other teams power rankings dropped MORE over the past 2 weeks, so the 49ers ended up gaining position even though their power # went down.
