personally i think too many are acting like chicken little over this but then again i expect it from the ones acting that way. :icon_cheesygrin:

not to say that seattle getting in isn't a joke but crap happens. personally i love that the seahawks are in over the giants as it gives me another reason to sit back and laugh at the jersey shore nation.

now if you want to seed by conference instead of division winners fine but re-aligning divsions is beyond stupid. seriously.

and if it were the eagles and not the giants in that situation? Would the sky be falling in smeagle's world?

Don't get me wrong with the post I made, I would 100% prefer to retain the current system than to screw around with it (Same with this 18 game crap).

You are thinking more geographically than anything and yet you want to put the ATLANTA FALCONS...from ATLANTA, GEORGIA...in the NFC WEST. Really.

This. Perfection is an impossibility, but 44-1 (44-0 until this year) is pretty god**mn close. Everyone is overreacting to an anomaly of a season.

Why is it impossible. You keep it as is unless a team wins their division with a losing record in which case that spot goes to a 3rd wild card team. Voila...perfection

Realigning Divisions isn't going to do anything...lol. Maybe for the immediate future but what happens 15 years from now when the AFC East, North West, South...whoever sends another 7-9 team to the playoffs? Realign again?

It's another overreaction by the media, fans and NFL. The only way to get the top teams into the playoffs is to create two "divisions," the AFC and the NFC and go from there. Rivalries are no more. Each team plays their conference opponents once and then one team from the other conference. Top teams go to the playoffs. Team wins a division, they get the home game. Don't like it, win your division. End of story.

It's ghey...what's next? A 9-7 team beats a 14-2 team in the playoffs and then they give the 14-2 team a second chance because they had a better record?

    Get over it...

Actually if you want realignment by geography the nfce would have the giants eagles panthers and redskins

South would be Dallas atlanta new Orleans and Tampa

Which sucks imo and I live in atlanta which I would like bc I'd see the boys play here but the good rivalrys would be gone

  12. They used to be in the NFC West before the divisional re-aliment in 2002.

But true......there not a west coast team. lol

Maybe there is some overreaction but that's to be expected when something like this happens.

That's stupid. Why even bother with having divisions at that point, if winning it can potentially mean nothing? As WARD said, the only way to make it work "perfectly" IS to do away with divisions entirely, keep the conferences, and just have a seeded playoff format where the top 6 teams make the playoffs period. Which would suck. Half of the fun of the season is heated division rivalries, perfect system or not. Either keep it the way it is or scrap the divisions and continue the vannilization of the league.

    1) This has been inevitable with the NFC West for the last 3 years, only thing saving it was Kurt Warner.

    2) IF you rid the division winner of an automatic playoff bid, you pretty much throw out the importance of a division.

    3) Having a division with three STRONG teams is going to affect the rest of the conference SOMEHOW. Bucs, Falcons and Saints played the NFC West in its entirety, that's an automatic 3 losses for each team in that division. Tag in the fact that they played each other, and add another couple losses per team in the division.

If you have a stacked division, this increases the chances of this happening. There's no need for realignment or overreaction, this is the only time this has ever happened, and it probably won't happen for another 20 years....if that.

Actually, the Saints lost to 2 NFC West opponents.

This isn't going to happen again for a long while. If you take away the value of winning the division, then other teams' victories against that division should hold less value. No matter what the system is, some team is going to be butthurt at the end of the season. Keep it the way it is.

How does my suggestion negate the point of divisions? Nothing changes unless your less then 500. If you win a division with less then 500 then your division currently sucks too much to get a playoff spot. Try again next year. The playoffs shouldn't be for a team with a losing record. That's just goobered.
