Raiders Begin Process Of Hiring Their Next Head Coach

Discussion in 'Oakland Raiders' started by BigBlueBruiser, Jan 11, 2011.

  1. The Oakland Raiders began interviewing candidates Monday to fill their vacant head-coaching position less than one week after deciding not to bring Tom Cable back for a third full season. Raiders owner Al Davis decided last week not to pick up a two-year, $5 million option to retain Cable. Davis spent much of last week reviewing the 2010 season, when the Raiders went 8-8 for their first non-losing season since winning the 2002 AFC championship. Now the attention turns to finding the team's sixth head coach since Jon Gruden left for Tampa Bay following the 2001 season. "The interview process has begun," Raiders senior executive John Herrera said. "No candidates will be named at this point. While offensive coordinator Hue Jackson is believed to be a favorite for the job, Davis likely will take advantage of the opportunity to interview candidates from outside the organization to gain insight into how other teams are operating.

Davis to commit suicide would be a great start for the search...

Do you find suicide a funny topic... Something to joke about. Really!
I would never wish something as terrible as a suicide on anyone!

I never thought I'd ever say this, but...I feel the Cable firing was premature. I think he did a good job with what he had to work with this season and deserved at least one more year. I think Hue had a lot to do with it, but their arent a lot of coaches in the league who dont lean on one coordinator or the other for success. I don't think a Hue, Al pairing bodes well for long-term success. Hue seems to be very into Hue and doing things Hue's way, which isn't going to mesh well with Al, who likes things done Al's way. If he ends up getting promoted, I don't expect him to last long.

I know I've said the Raiders won't be consistently relevant until Al is dead, but jesus christ, man. That's going a little too freaking far. Have some respect.
