NFL Issues Warning To All Eight Playoff Teams About Trash-Talking

Peter King of Sports Illustrated reports via twitter that NFL V.P. Ray Anderson has contacted all eight playoff teams late in the week and told them they're all on notice: Respect the game, cut down the trash-talking. New York Jets cornerback Antonio Cromarite this week ripped Patriots quarterback Tom Brady in a profanity-laced rant, calling him an "ass----," and claiming he hates him. Coach Rex Ryan cited to Brady's post-touchdown antics, who finger-pointed to the Jets sideline after his touchdown pass gave the Patriots a 38-3 lead on the first play of the fourth quarter on Dec. 6 in Foxborough on the way to New England's 45-3 humiliation of the Jets in their first-place showdown. Cromartie added, "We see that a lot. He does it a lot. That's the kind of guy he is. We really don't give a damn, to tell you the truth." He's an ass----. "---- him." Patriots wide receiver Wes Welker in his press conference on Thursday made multiple references of Ryan's foot fetish. On Friday, Jets center Nick Mangold fired back at Welker via twitter: "Wes Welker is a great player. He's really taken advantage of watching film. If we don't keep a Spy on him, he could really open the Gate." ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter also reports that Anderson warned teams if any illegal acts occur during this weekend's games, past comments will be considered in evaluating discipline.

Of course Jets trash-talk for 2 years nothing happens, but when Welker barely says something back he sends out warnings. I hope the Patriots don't get any fines since technically they didn't say anything. Bart Scott threatened Welker.

Trash talking is part of the game comissioner lighten up. If these players don't have the balls to take the trash talk then this league isn't for them.

Can we impeach Roger Goodell is that an option. I will gladly take over as commish and demand that all teams talk trash at least once a week about their opponents.

But no seriously, this is just goobered, come on this is the NFL. Trash talk happens in EVERY sport, why is the NFL the one banning it, I mean seriously this is the league we came to love because of the violence, the trash talk the anger you could see and feel on every hit, why the hell would you turn this game into a game of rec baseball?

 

Hope the Patriots fans don't have any "Foot Signs" in the stands...that could result in one of those new heckling penalties...:icon_rolleyes:

 

So Goodell wants a league where contact is not allowed and all players of all teams love each other. He wants an NBA.

Strikes again. Does the league really think those guys give a damn what someone says to them on the field? Some of that stuff is funny as hell. I'd say lighten up but we all know it wont happen.

when i was growing up, walter payton never 'called out' jack lambert........... No, they were men and they just went and played the game on the field. 100's of players weren't predicting a SB win for their teams before the season like today's stupid players ....................

players would celebrate a td if it was a crucial time in the game but they wouldn't bob their head and make some freaking wild celebration in the middle of the field after making 3 yards on a first and 10 ..........

there ARE a lot of things that are happening in the league right now that are hurting it and this stupid freaking trash talking IS one of them ...................

YOU are the ones who should be banned from the league because you don't know crap about the game and you're encouraging this type of stupid freaking behavior............

You think you're watching WWF ....................... some of us still want it to be football.
