An emotional New York Jets LB Bart Scott unloaded pent-up frustrations with the way his team was characterized after a 28-21 playoff win against the New England Patriots on Sunday. "Anybody can be beat," Scott told ESPN in an on-field interview moments after the game ended and the Jets upset the top-seeded Patriots. Scott said the Jets were intent on redeeming themselves after a 45-3 loss in New England last month. "We know we were a much better team than we came up and represented ourselves," he said. "And we were pissed off. "We were ready to come back and show off what kind of a defense, what kind of a team this was, what kind of character we have ... We take a lot of flack. People gave us no chance like we barely made the playoffs. We're a good football team." Scott, yelling into the microphone at times, called the win "poetic justice." He was particularly upset about what he perceived as a lack of respect for the Jets' defense. Why was he so angry? "For all you nonbelievers," he said. "Disrespect us. Talk crap about the defense like we ain't the third-best defense in the league. "All we hear is about (the Patriots') defense. They can't stop a nose bleed. Twenty-fifth in the league, and we the one that gets disrespected." Source: USA Today
Come on, somebody say something to get our defense fired up ASAP. We need some bulletin board material.
