Cowboys Would Listen To Trade Offers For WR Dez Bryant

Discussion in 'Dallas Cowboys' started by BigBlueBruiser, Jan 18, 2011.

  1. Former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Patrick Crayton was never shy about speaking his mind and last week, the Chargers receiver popped on "The Ben & Skin Show" on to 103.3 ESPN Radio to talk about a variety of topics, including the work of rookie Dez Bryant. "They let him get away with a lot of stuff. A lot of stuff," Crayton said of Bryant. "Hopefully whoever they bring in as receivers coach, and they say [Jason] Garrett is a disciplinarian, won't let him get away with so much stuff. He'll get locked down and hopefully be the next Michael Irvin." Crayton's not a fan of Garrett's, as you might have gathered from that little jab. But it's interesting what he said about Bryant, who was reportedly late to several meetings during the season and didn't exactly commit the playbook to memory. Former Cowboys scout Bryan Broaddus, who now works for 103.3, recently wondered aloud (on the air) whether Dallas might listen to trade offers for Bryant. ESPNDallas.com's Calvin Watkins posed that question to someone in the Cowboys' front office. "I would think about it," said the source.

  2. Just wow.....

I think just about any team with receiver needs should definitely be interested.

    K Train Do You Honeycutt?

the guy is going to be a top 5 WR....so yeah trade him away

  4. I strongly agree with that....

But Jerry Jones did make it clear that no player will be on the Cowboys roster if Jason Garrett doesn't want them.

As shocking as it may sound....it is possible a trade may happen if Garrett decides that Bryant could potentially be poisonous to the locker room.

i dont think hes caused any problems so far aside from being dumb as hell. it would be idiotic to let him go

Considering Jerry Jones still regrets passing on Randy Moss, I just can't see them trading away a future top 5 WR.

  8. In my opinion.....I think it's more of what they want to avoid in the future with him. They probably fear he may become a distraction which would affect the team.

After the Cowboys' miserable 6-10 campaign which started with great Super Bowl aspirations and the changes they made on the coaching staff......they probably want to continue that direction regarding the roster and "weed" out the bad apples.

If this is true, then I think the Chiefs need to jump on this.

i don't think jj would allow this. he has a hard-on for dez and wouldn't give him up unless someone gave up the farm, which isn't going to happen.

Not quite the same but the same thing was said when they traded Herschell Walker away too.
I think the guy is very good and will be great but the thing I noticed was a lack of discipline and showboating on the field and the things said in this post seem to confirm that. Lack of discipline will limit what you get done on the field sometimes. I can think of lots of better receivers throughout NFL history that had lots less physical talent but were disciplined.

Of course they'd listen to trade offers, I think anyone in the league would be available for the right price. Whether or not that price is realistic for anyone to consider paying is another thing entirely, and I doubt they'd listen to any of the offers that teams would be likely to throw out.
