Why are you folks talking crap about a team that lost in the AFC championship game? You act as if they, like the Vikings (who went 1-7 against teams with a 500 record), didn't even make the playoffs. They not only made the playoffs they made it through Manning and Brady, then came up a little short against Pitt.

They backed up their talking. You may not like it, but 90% of the folks talking got to reason to. The only ones who can are Pitt and Green Bay. Otherwise you were left in the dust, maybe you landed there more quietly then the Jets did, but you certainly didn't make less of a thud when you fell.

They said their goal was to win the championship, like it is for every team. You just seem to have a problem with people saying it. Other then a lot of talk going on with New England (who the Jets beat 2 out of 3 times this year) most of the stuff said was just chatter sensationalized by the media. It's personal against Manning? Yeah ok, Manning has been an issue for him his whole career and he takes it personal, big deal that's all he said. All that crap against the Dolphins is just cheap talking, nothing really going on there. There wasn't a whole lot else all season and everyone wants Rex to shut up already. Tell the media to stop making what he says headlines because it aint much different than what anyone else says.

Saying that is goal is one thing, but boasting that your team is going to win the Super Bowl before pre-season starts is too cocky. Just last week he said his team is "the best in the NFL." And when you say stuff like that but can't prove it, don't expect people to not throw that back in your face when you fail.

Well said Rottstein. Rex is their freaking head coach. He's SUPPOSED to believe his team is best and are gonna win it all. It's his job. Guess what....he was not that far off. If it makes you feel better to whine about the confidence he displayed in his team all year (every year) just because your team did worse then his then enjoy but just know it makes you look like an butt hat. The Jets did enough these past 2 years to earn my respect.

Rottstein, because I really, really, reallly dislike the Jets, but I've had my fun with it now. Sorry about the loss, as a Vikings fan, I've been there many times.

I was thinking along the same lines. They had a hell of a year. He's a talker, always has and always will be. But they were a top 4 team in the league. Heck of a season.

His words were not that his team was a top 4 team. He continued to boast and brag about being the best. While being confident is good, there are moments to shut up. So I have the right to criticize the Jets, because again, like last year, his team was in fact not the best. And with his attitude his team will always "be the bridesmaid and never the bride" so to speak.

You can hate him, you should hate him... but that's ridiculous. They were a score away from going to the Super Bowl.

The Jets got totally dominated the first half of the game and if it was for some sloppy play in the second would not have gotten close!

The Steelers took their foot off of the Jets throat, the game shouldn't have even been close. twinky Lebeau the genius that he is stopped bringing the pressure and we let Mark Sanchez march down field easily.

Exactly my point if the steelers don't get sloppy the jets only score maybe 10 points, the first half was proof enough...

Sure...the stealers just let them march down the field. The truth is they couldn't stop them. Just like the Jets couldn't stop them in the 1st half.

That's what I mean by letting them march.. we couldn't stop them. Not sure what you're getting at, it was clear our defense became more conservative with a big lead. I'm a big believer of keep doing what got you the lead on offense and defense, anytime you go conservative you risk blowing a big lead and we could have done that yesterday. Luckily 24 points was enough.

They eased the defense because a db slipped and Holmes got a touchdown. They risked more of the same and Meddenhall was no longer bowling over the Jets D. Its always best to give a little help then risk a catastrophe.

That's not why they eased the defense, they eased the defense because they had a 21 and then a 14 point lead and times running as long as passes are completed in the middle of the field. Ike Taylor tends to play 5-10 yards off the receiver anyways, so it didn't have anything to do with the slip. That's no reason for a whole defense to go conservative. And if you read it was because of the Ike Taylor slip I'd love to see the source. (Not being a jackass, I'd like to see it.)
