Tied with New England, N.Y. Jets, Baltimore & Atlanta for the NFL's best record.....we certainly have a strong case. Over the past month....no team have been firing on all cylinders like the G-Men. Over the last four games.....we scored 141 combined points....averaging 36 points a game over that stretch with three of those games coming on the road (Houston, Dallas, Seattle). Our only achilles heel is turnovers but we nipped that in the bud yesterday for the most part with just one. That Boss fumble hurt for a little bit since it happened in Seahawks' territory but we quickly overcame it and scored 21 first quarter points. Coughlin preached so in his presser about that turnover. Great coaches always look for ways to improve no matter how well their team is playing.
i certainly think you guys are up there but the best i dont know maybe tied with other teams as the best
just beat the seahawks....... ya that should make you feel pretty darn good. i read the title real quick and thought it said brandon jackson..... haha.... but really. they have a running game, have wr's and a pass rush that won't stop. db's are good, o-line was the only thing i thought could be down since the run in 07. im not sure of divisional record, but if the giants take care of that, i wouldnt be surprised if they make a playoff run.
seahawks suck, cowboys suck, texans arent who we thought they were going to be, especially since dallas beat them. uh. im not taken anything away from the giants, but the other team in new york, who i didnt think would be good, is hecken great. And though Pittsburgh is not mentioned anywhere in this thread, theyre the best team in the NFL in my opinion. No one is putting up crap on their D. they've given up 4 less touchdowns then the Jets (28 points), who is second in opponents PPG. Giants D is nasty, but they're still given up 160 points, to where Steelers have given up 102. and allowing 57 rushing ypg. Ridiculous.
The Giants have been playing more of a complete game than the Jets have been in recent weeks. The Jets haven't been as dominate lately. The victory over Houston was a quality win at the time we played them and we held Foster to his worst performance to date this season. Seattle wasn't as good as their record dictated and they had a slew of injuries....but they were unbeaten at home and Qwest Field is no picnic to play in. Cowboys suck.....we both agree there. But a win over a divisional opponent is always sweet. No one is discounting Pittsburgh.....that would be foolish. The key you mentioned is points allowed: they have allowed a league low 102 while we're in the middle of the pack with 160. But the Giants are #2 in rushing defense behind Pittsburgh and #2 in passing defense behind New Orleans. Giants also rank #1 in total defense with just 250 yards allowed per game. Giants also rank #2 in total offense, thats a testimate to how well rounded the Giants are. The Giants' & Steelers' pass rush is almost equal imo. Once Big Ben gets rolling....they could be the AFC favorite. I remember our game against them two years ago...very physical. Would love to face the Steelers again. Would be a very intriguing matchup.
pittsburgh has lost 2 games, by 10.. and by 3. 10 to the defending super bowl champs. Giants have lost 2 games, by 24, and 19. Lose by 24, yet... Pitssburgh hasnt allowed an opponent to score, 24, in order to lose by 24. wins against a 1 win Carolina team, 1 win Detroit team, 1 win Dallas team.. Seattle probably should only have 1 win, ha. But it is, what it is. You're going to defend your statement. I love that Ahmad is tearing it up, I just don't see the Giants as the best team in the NFL, Maybe the NFC. I just know you all started hot last season, and died. If all you're beating is the teams that you're suppose to beat, and getting killed by the better teams... you're not the best in the NFL.
I'll defend based on the fact we play who the NFL schedules us to play against. We got the job done against a team we were supposed to beat, unlike team's like the Patriots, who laid an egg against Cleveland. And don't forget the fact that the Jets needed a late rally to beat the Lions. The Lions lost that game more than the Jets won it. Last year, we were exposed because of injuries....mainly Kenny Phillips. Our loss against the Saints was the start of it. We were forced to start C.C. Brown because of lack of depth at the position. We made the mistake of carrying only three on the roster and we got shredded. Bill Sheridan was not a good fit with our personnel. Perry Fewell is looking to be like the assistant coach of the year and is using similar schemes Sags used during his two seasons as the Giants DC. Phillips is 100% and the additions of Antrel Rolle and Deon Grant have been factors to our turnaround.

You are what your record is. The giants are doing what good teams do, stomp the bad teams. And the jets are far from great. I they didn't hurt that kicker yesterday, they lose. They got a gift from Brett favre in the game against the Vikings to edge out the win and got a gift from the broncos to win that game. The jets could easily be 4-4 right now. The giants losses to the colts and titans were legit losses. Their defense and offense are playing at another level since then. Do I need to remind everyone of 2007 when they were blown out in the first two games of that season. We now hit the meat part of the schedule and it will tell a lot of things. One thing is for sure, the giants are the most explosive team on offense in the NFL. I do worry about the oline. We need a healthy OHara. I wouldn't say the giants are definitively the best team in the NFL, a few teams could make that case. The whole points per game thing on defense is overrated. Those numbers are the results of the offense turning the ball over and giving opponents short fields. I look at yards per game and yards per play.
