Patriots Owner Says QB Tom Brady Threw "Lazy Interception" In Loss Vs. Jets

  1. Patriots owner Robert Kraft gently criticized likely league MVP quarterback Tom Brady's interception thrown to New York Jets linebacker David Harris in New England's 28-21 divisional-round elimination. "Tommy was unbelievable,'' Kraft said. "He had seven, eight, 10 (actually, 11) games without an interception and then threw that lazy interception.'' Brady threw just four interceptions all season with 36 touchdowns. "Think about our turnover differential,'' Kraft said. "That game we just didn't have it. It's unfortunate. They out-played us. They earned it. It's just very sad.'' On the plus side, Kraft said New England's earlier than expected elimination will give Brady's surgically-repaired foot more time to heal and he is expected back for training camp -- if there is a training camp. "We spent a little time before he left,'' Kraft said. "He has such a great attitude. "The only good part about losing that game to the Jets was he could get that done right away and have longer time to heal,'' Kraft said. "The one thing he shared with me as he's grown older, is how he's been able to study tape more, what you look for, where he's become more and more a student of the game." Kraft looks at the bright side, which is a young team that will only get younger the way coach Bill Belichick has stockpiled multiple draft picks in the first three rounds in April. "We're thinking right now, we have 13 players from our last Super Bowl team in '04," he said. "That puts us third in the league in veteran players.'' "But last year, we had half of our play time between first and second-year players. We're privileged this year to have five of the first 75 picks, which has not happened in 20 years.'' Asked what was missing from the loss to the Jets, Kraft smiled and said, "I don't know? A good game plan? I mean, you have to hand it to the Jets. They did a good job.''
