NFL Announces Their 2011 Hall Of Fame Class

The NFL has voted to induct the following as members of the 2011 Hall of Fame class: DE Richard Dent (1983-1993 Bears, 1994 49ers, 1995 Bears, 1996 Colts, 1997 Eagles), RB Marshall Faulk (1994–1998 Colts, 1999–2006 Rams), LB Chris Hanburger (1965-1978 Redskins), LB Les Richter (1954–1962 Rams), Ed Sabol (Co-founder of NFL Films with son Steve Sabol), CB Deion Sanders (1989–1993 Falcons, 1994 49ers, 1995–1999 Cowboys, 2000 Redskins, 2004–2005 Ravens) and TE Shannon Sharpe (1990-1999 Broncos, 2000-2001 Ravens, 2002-2003 Broncos).

Great list, can't argue with any of them at all. It'll be a day for the Rams in Canton come August, and I can't be any more happy to see my childhood hero be enshrined :icon_smile:

What I will argue is how Cris Carter couldn't break into the list of top 10, I wonder who he has pissed off.

 

yep, big year for the rams organization.

the explanation for carter is that they don't enshrine a lot of wr's. wr seems to be the hardest position on offense or defense to get in. remember how long it took art monk to get in?

 

Its the hall of good players on good teams. It wouldn't be so ridiculous that Cris Carter failed to make it in again, if Michael Irvin wasn't already in.

I'm glad to see Marshall Faulk make it in though, one of my favorite players.

 

no question players who are fortunate enough to have played on good teams have a distinct advantage. is anyone going to actually claim that lynn swann is better than cris carter ............

Tim Brown is another wide out that got snubbed when retired finished 2nd (Better Stats then Irvin)all time in a few different catagories, and by far showed how the game should be played at the his position while not being a diva. Only thing that slowed Tim Brown down was he's own team during the low years of the 90s..

 

Yea stats are cool, but common sense is still a part of it and Michael Irvin > Troy Brown.

As much as I hate Cris Carter, i'd put him in the HOF over Ed Sabol. An NFL Films Producer? Seriously?

 

Ed Sabol was a no-brainer. I was shocked to learn he wasn't already in. He was one of the biggest reasons for the NFL's explosion into popularity. The NFL wouldn't be what it is today without him.

 

You said it dude!! Sabol is an absolute shoe in. The guy is the reason most of us enjoy the NFL like we do. Repped!

 

I remember when I was a little kid ESPN would always have NFL Films on late at night or very early in the morning. I had a TV in my bedroom so I'd turn it down real low, set up a jerry rigged canopy to hide the TV's glare and watch NFL films as a kid. I guess it was my bedtime stories.
