Buccaneers Interested In Resigning RB Cadillac Williams

The Buccaneers haven't had a more inspirational player recently than RB Cadillac Williams — or a more reliable one. Williams sustained devastating knee injuries in 2007 and 2008. But in the past two seasons, he played in each of the Bucs' 32 games, starting 15 in '09 and half of the games last year before losing his job to rookie RB LeGarrette Blount. It's hard to predict what kind of market Williams will find as a free agent given his reduced role with the Bucs and injury history. But there's no question Tampa Bay would like to have him back in 2011.

He's still one helluva 3rd down back. He can pick up the blitz and catch the ball out of the backfield.

I wouldn't mind having him in Pittsburgh to replace Mewelde...no chance though as Redman seems to have already done that.

I thionk the best option for Williams is to find a way to stay in Tampa. He can have a longer career there.

I would love to keep him here, he used to be my favorite player on the Bucs, but that changed when we got Freeman & Williams.

The man can be a great third down back for the Bucs. Hopefully they can find a way to get this done.

We need to decide this before the draft, because if we re-sign him after the draft we won't know if we should draft a RB..

I wouldn't sign him until this CBA crap is settled.

    Why is that?

Don't think there a huge market for him. Why not just wait?

Because it would likely, if not signed by the 3rd, after the draft.

I think you need to go with Williams. He's a veteran, he knows the scheme and he won't cost an exorbitant amount.

He's one blade of grass from ending his career though.

But if we don't come to an agreement we gotta get someone in the draft.

True. He is very injury prone.

That's why to me the Bucs are his best option because he would be a third down back there and not have as much wear and tear grinding it out like Blount will.

Good point SRW. Not like the Bucs will run him between the tackles 25+ times.

Williams has been injury prone but he's been solid the last two seasons...no?

Yeah, last year was really good for him though.

Maybe that injury bug is behind him. He's played 32+ straight games...not sure what he did in 2008...I think he was back for the 2nd half of the year...so maybe he's done 40 straight? Not bad...
