LSU cornerback Patrick Peterson posted a time of 4.34 seconds in the 40-yard dash at the NFL scouting combine Tuesday, further solidifying his place among the top prospects in this year's NFL draft. Although Peterson fell short of his stated goal of running in the 4.2s, his time was believed to among the two or three fastest of any prospect in the entire draft. That's especially impressive, considering Peterson is bigger than most cornerback prospects at 6 feet, ¼ inch and 219 pounds. Many scouts consider him the "safest" bet to become a standout player in the NFL, and he has an outside chance at become the first player taken in the entire draft.

I really haven't heard anything about him going first, but he's definitely number one on my board with the Browns picking at 6.

He won't go first, although if any CB prospect has ever deserved to be number one it's him. Sensational talent.

Dont care what anyone says, I still think we have an outside shot at #9

    Likley........no, definatly not

But with CB's you never know who is gonna pass for a QB, DT or pass rusher

bank on prince if you want corner at 9...who hauled more butt than expected in the 40 as well

Thats what Im thinking. In fact I dont see how 2 CB's go ahead of us

If we want a CB, then there is a decent chance Petterson could be in a Cowboy uni, but most likely we're trading up.

I would call it 10% he straight up slips to #9, and thats if the top 8 teams have no value for a CB that high. I have a hard time seeing him get past SF however

  9. rumors have Peterson being #1 on the Cowboys board

I've heard that. I can see Jones working the phones if he gets past #5. Dont really want that, even as much as I heart Petterson

I think he is open alot of peoples.

He's a total mock killer, kinda like Berry last year. Could go anywhere in the top 10

..and I'll be pissed if someone grabs him ahead of us, like Berry. Because he was at the top of my board last year like Peterson is this year.

yeah, berry was 1B last year behing king suh.....but the value for DBs fluctuates so much more than the value for QBs, OTs, and DEs

peterson is an elite returner though, better than many of the top CBs taken lately.

if you want to see good peterson tape, watch him brawl with julio jones and one particular play when he stonewalls trent richardson (manimal) at the goal line

I agree.. No sense in trading away the farm for 1 player. If we were one guy away from a SB then I would say "ok". But we have far too many holes to fill this year. Now if he falls to #9 I will be shocked and excited.

    But.....
It would be our luck that Jerry hecks it up and drafts someone else he has a hard on for even if Peterson is there.. I just hope Jerry does a good job this year. Hopefully with Ryan and Garrett chewing on his ear he will do the right thing.
