The Jets announced Wednesday that they have waived former first-round draft pick Vernon Gholston after three disappointing seasons. The defensive end was the sixth overall pick in the 2008 draft out of Ohio State. Gholston made just five starts and didn't record a sack in 45 regular-season games. Gholston didn't play in any of the Jets' playoff games last season. The Jets also said Wednesday they had released backup tight end Ben Hartsock.

    Throw Tony Mandarich in there...lol.

  5. also wasn't that big of a bust. He wasn't the OT he was hyped up to be but was a pretty good OG with the Colts.

I doubt it. He was an athlete, one that many thought who juiced at that, and teams got drunk over his combine/pro day numbers whilst ignoring the tape. I remember a lot of Rams fans wanting this bum over Long, and it's great that Chris is excelling whilst this clown floats around in FA.

Definite bust, but it wasn't like it was unpredictable.

Seriously? He absolutely was. He was rated higher on most draft boards than Aikman, Barry Sanders, Deion Sanders, Thomas...it wasn't until after he was off the juice and out of the league for 4-5 years that he returned to the NFL clean. That's about a big a draft bust you can get. He did okay for the Colts, but he wasn't showing the talent of the #2 pick overall.

  9. True he was a bust but shouldn't be considered one of the worst. At least he contributed. That's more than we can say for some busts.
